i don't know, when i first installed cs on vista it seemed like they didnt work but now that i've been playing with them in the launch options for over a year it seems like they do work
not sure if theres no accel because i turned it off in vista or because the noforce commands are working, but either way it does work fine
I used xp for the longest time and got real used to it, i then tried to use vista on my machine because I lost my xp discs.
When I put on vista it raped my, at the time, terrible computer. (AMD 3000+ nvidia 6600 1gig ram) I could manage to get a good fps rate in CS, but other games sucked. I went back to XP asap.
I finaly built a new computer and tried out both xp and vista, the only thing that's bugging me is that my sensitivity is screwed. I saved my exact config and settings and replaced them, but for some reason it doesn't feel the same. With vista my cs seems kinda choppy, I'm getting 100fps, but it just looks laggy for some reason
Mousefix doesn't work well for vista either, which can throw you off a bit if you're used to using that.
I'm using 64 bit vista with 4 gigs of ram and I get well over 200 fps on any map granted the server. Make sure you have enough ram and you'll be fine. There is no noticable difference between the two as far as im am concerned
I think vista sp1 is better then xp.. cs runs smoother and since i'm on a quad core with 8gb's of ram.. i dont think it can run any better..
Vista is a os made for better graphics and is also made from a smaller kernal then XP, so vista runs almost sort like linux, allowing the programs to run smoothly.
Everyone who has problems on vista, are the idiots using it on a p4 with 2gb of ram.. vista isn't a single core processor OS.
sup jeff tony here, I personally like xp better cuz its easier to setup if u go to a lan or w/e cuz ppl use reforce, mouse hz changer, mousefix programs like that or w/e, they're are alternative ways to get those for vista but its a pain in the ass.
dont think theres a diff with noforce on both systems since i play on vista sometimes at a friends house.
But from what i just said, yes 1.6 is better on xp because those programs work on xp.
I recently got a new comp at the end of last year and got it with Vista 64 bit, it runs CS flawlessly however I chose to partition one of my two hard drives and install XP so that I have both OS's on one hard drive, I just choose which OS I boot into. I did this because after playing 5+ years with CPL mouse fix on XP I could not quite get my sensitivity to how I like it on Vista, where as #11 and #13 pointed out mouse fix no longer works. The game doesn't look quite as smooth on XP as it does on Vista but I choose to play on XP still because I can play the way that I grew so accustomed to in the past and continue to shred heads.
