Hi, first i'd like to thank anyone who can help me with this issue in advance.

A few days ago, my cs started to randomly freeze. I use net_Graph 1, and the graph spikes showing several peaks, and then everything stops moving. The weird part about this lag out/freeze, is that my cs resumes within 5-30 seconds, like nothing ever happened. A few times during this lagout/freeze I alt tabbed to check my internet, I can still browse websites, but then I noticed my cs spikes coincided with me disconnecting from MIRC and Ventrilo as well. Each occurrence only lasts 5-30 seconds.

It's driving me crazy. I've cleaned my computer case, I've completely checked my computer for viruses/spyware (nothing on here), I even port forwarded the requisite ports for CS/mirc/vent, yet this problem is still happening.

My ISP is Verizon Fios, and I currently have the 20up/20down package. All the line tests I run show up nothing, tech support did their own diagnostics and showed nothing. The biggest issue for me is whether or not this is a computer problem, or an ISP problem. I can't seem to figure out which it is.
If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.

My computer stats:
Intel Core 2 Quad cpu Q6600 @ 2.4ghz
1 GIG of ram (formerly 2, but 1 stick went haywire)
8800 GTS Vid card

Again, Thanks for your help in advance.

Didn't see where you mentioned if your pc is connected via wifi or cat 10 cable.

If you're on a wireless network... It could be due to weak signal.

My younger brother had very similar problems like yourself with sudden random freezes for couple seconds while his internet connection was fine to surf the web and what not.

I know it's weird how your connection to internet is fine but it only affects cs/vent/irc..o.O

My solution to this was to install better/updated driver for his wifi network card to enhance his wifi signal.....

hope this helps ya...

Thanks for your advice, but I'm connected directly via ethernet cable. My router is an Actiontec MI-424-WR, don't know if that will help explain things.

Try updating firmware for mother board, graphics card, sound card if you have one.
Did this problem start occurring after you had to remove the extra 1gb of ram? If you are running vista that might affect it as vista is a resource hog and I normally recommend 4 gb of ram for optimal performance. Try turning off extra services that vista has running in the background that you don't need. Does this lag happen when you just run cs, not irc or vent? Try each one on its own. Try cs in lowest priority setting. Borrow ram from a friend and try 2gb or more. When was the last time you defragged your hard drive? Run a memory test, run a hard drive test. Try disconnecting your router and plug in straight to the modem.

And if it still doesn't work after all that, reformat.

Still a problem, cry in a corner cause god must not like you lol
