Pretty sick to have Artest, Kobe, and Gasol all together. Adds an even tougher defender who can play low and rebound, as well as hit the 3 and put up 15-20 ppg.
Hopefully they still keep Ariza, but I don't see Odom having a chance of staying now.

it would be very interesting how artest and kobe will work together to form a good chemistry, and they are keep odom, lakers dont want to spend more than 5.6 on ariza, indicating they are leaning towards odom more. and ariza wants to get paid more.
Ya I read that, which sucks, but they reported that Ariza met with Houston and since he didn't go in a straight up trade, it makes me wonder what's really going on.
If they keep Odom, whatever.....Artest is a bigger, stronger Ariza. Just Older.

if u think artests 15-20ppg is going to transfer over to the lakers you are delusional.
his ppg are going to take a dip, but i expect his rebounding to increase and possibly his assists as well since he has more than 1 go to go who he can feed the ball to.
also i think he will be more efficient since jackson wont be keen on him taking his patented "artest threes" so he will have to pick his shots and not toss up as many bricks.
but adding a shutdown defender like artest is going to be huge for LA, if everything works as it should, they should repeat imo
For one they're keeping Odom most likely. two, Ariza will go to the rockets and Artest IS going to the Lakers even if he isnt paid. Three, Artest and Kobe are friends, one scuffle on the court due to uncontrolled emotions dont mean squat
Artest is better than Ariza, so i think it's a pretty good choice by the lakers artest is obviously bigger, and a better defender than ariza. ariza just has long arms and can steal ball passes, but artest can shut kids down. oh and artest is a better shooter.
doesnt matter where turk goes hell probably end up going to either TORONTO or PORTLAND...i doubt a b.roy-alridge-turk core is enough to beat the lakers or the spurs out in the west
lol kobe and artest would be funny... pretty obvious they don't really like eachother
artest needs to go somewhere better though... yao might not be able to play ever again because of a hairline fracture in his foot that could possibly end his career
"Ill look up ip's and find out when the next lan tournament in your area is and come find that as$"
Vince Carter going to the Magic is such a bigger thing than Artest to the lakers, but since you have a 12 foot poster of kobe bryants dick on your wall I'm not surprised you love any news dealing with them
Carter was a good pick up, but his numbers have been going South for the past 4-5 years. He is a good player, but he is nothing compared to what he used to be. Even with Vince Carter, the Lakers and Artest would still crush the Magic like they did in the Finals.
I'm a big fan of V. Carter, but the addition of Arest to the Lakers only makes the best team in the NBA stronger. Anyways, Shaq to the Cavs was the biggest move so far. He can really help give them that extra boost they need to get up the hill.

If Sheed signs with the Celtics (which looks pretty certain at this point) they'll be coming out of the East IMO. As for the Lakers, Artest gives 'em that toughness and defense they've been lacking for a while. Let's hope it's not the same 'ol "Lakers will outscore their opponents" but "The Lakers will win the games defensively". Great pickups.
The Lakers didn't crush Orlando since most of the series was relatively close other than the first and last game of the series. Though the better team won, obviously.
the reason he says no odom is because if they sign artest they may not be able to get odom because of money. NOT OFFICIAL yet though whether its odon and artest or just artest
Celtics met with Rasheed Wallace in Detroit offering him 11.2 million for the next 2 years, (being 5.6 million a year, which is a medium expected pay...But Rasheed hasn't been so wooed at this point because he's heading to San Antonio and Orlando for meeting with those teams executives..We should know his answer by July 8..
I'm a Die hard Laker fan I can't believe Mitch Kupchik didn't just pay him the extra 1.4 million dollars.. Jerry Buss has been known to go over the cap salaries and pay the luxury tax..Also they shouldn't have renewed Josh Powel and Dj Benga contract with that 2 million dollars they could have easily sealed Ariza with the Lakers.. Ariza - Great Defender, can aslo score he's just turned 24 on Tuesday, and he still has room to grow... Artest - One of the best Defenders in the league, can score, he's turning 30..also he's very intimidating let's see how this new mix can come to play..
Hedo Turkoglu might go to either Toronto or Portland because those 2 teams have the biggest cap salary in the NBA besides the Lakers..Trevor Ariza is probably going to Houston, and he's going to be this seasons James Posey..
yea i think Spurs is the team that improved the most :]
but as a Lakers fan I have doubts on the Artest-ariza deal. I'm happy about the team getting better D, but people might be overrating Artest's 17ppg. He gets those points through forced shots. Although he has decent assists he still ball hogs a lot (if you watched some houston vs. lakers, he committed a lot of turnovers that way).
IMO he's like a kobe bryant without the skills. Offense-wise I prefer to have a role player like Ariza who is patient and will only take good shots like the wide 3 he made almost 50% of the time
ariza wouldn't sign with the lakers for the mid-level, but he signs with houston for the mid level? i mean i'm glad we signed him but if i was him i would've stayed on that stacked ass lakers team. gl to artest in LA, that team is going to be nuts
Artest to Lakers

you have no clue what you are saying.
they are keeping odom.
Edit: I'm interested to see how this Kobe and Artest thing work out.
and they are keep odom, lakers dont want to spend more than 5.6 on ariza, indicating they are leaning towards odom more.
and ariza wants to get paid more.
but ariza is overrated, its true.
If they keep Odom, whatever.....Artest is a bigger, stronger Ariza. Just Older.

oh and artest is a better shooter.
Lakers now coming with a veteran guard Fisher, mr.amazing Kobe, Great defender Artest, Odom/Gasol, Gasol/Bynum
Magics with Vince Carter, clutch Turkoglu, superman Dwight Howard, all star guard Neslon, consistent shooter Lewis.
Celtics with growing and future star Rajon Rondo, Ray allen and his 3's, mr.4th quarter Paul Pierce, one of the best PF ever Kevin Garnett.
Cavaliers with the big SHAQ, and the King James, and maybe you can add mo williams in there, and Z.
oh but forgot to mention turkoglu is still a free agent
pretty obvious they don't really like eachother
artest needs to go somewhere better though...

if dwight hit ONE of his free throws, and courtney lee made that lay up, the magic won the finals, you're such a tard..
still shaq + top 3(kobe/wade - now james) player in the nba has proven to be an nba winning team thus far.
Trevor Ariza signed with the Rockets, lol
Anyway, Artest is a punk and this is a really bad move.

every sports thread i see on this forum is rift talking out of his ass
1. rasheed
2. ron artest
3. jkidd
obviously a good move
