A lot of pros use it depending on the situation. As a CT MOST have it ALWAYS silenced, and as a T it usually depends on if they're trying to be sneaky in a 1vX situation, or if they're just doing their normal routine (default strats and etc). Usually as a T I'd assume they'd have the silencer off, because it does 2 more damage than the silenced colt does, and it's not any louder than the AK would be already.
It's not really sneaky as much as trying to not be aggressive. Players typically use the silenced colt when they want to be passive in site and try to get slow picks, versus the unsilenced colt players typically play a more aggressive playstyle.
Obviously there's players who do whatever, but this is generally the case.
#17 From what I've seen and heard from pros, .dmg (from ESEA), AMX mod (from public servers), and just general experience, it does in fact do more damage, but possibly not? I'm completely open to being wrong though haha
i could never play with the silenced m4, then i saw kiko (in his 'prime') mowin ppl down left n right with a silenced m4...so i made myself play with it, now i can't play unsilenced o0. . . guess it'll be like that until i witness some crazy aimer pwnin unsilenced style ;)
there are useful links on my profile (for 1.6) so check it out
unsilenced does more dmg long range and silenced does more dmg close range, also when its silenced and you get body shots the opponents body twitches so they cant shoot too accurately.. go into a server and try it out
#27. Wrong try the difference silenced does more close up. Also it's mostly just preference some awpers use it unsilenced because they want to be effective long range and others do use the silencer because they want to be sneaky, just preference.
i feel like it bursts better and more accurate when its unsilenced, but for me i feel like its easier to spray with it silenced
as far as damage, ive always though unsilenced does more.. ive seen many times i kill someone with 5 bullets with it unsilenced, and the only time i see 6 bullet kills is when i have it silenced
Silenced and unsilenced do the exact same damage from all distances, if you don't believe me go waste your time and test it. If you have the option of being quiet why not use it? silenced ftw
i use no silencer because i like the recoil better than the silencer. anyways i use only use the silencer when im spamming so i can hear if i hit their body or not.
Over the years of playing I've come to this conclusion.
Unsilenced m4 is more accurate, more lethal, and loud.
Silenced m4 is slightly less accurate, slightly less lethal, and after about 8-10 yards is completely noiseless.
Technically unsilenced is better on paper, but sometimes people notice in 5v5 matches they often seem to do better with silenced m4, they get more 2ks, frags, ect. Yet they feel its not as good in comparison. The answer is obviously that its because its silenced that makes the m4 so deadly, the most important part of cs is being able to locate opponents(reasons wall hacks rape) so with silenced your going to be able to move positions, shoot enemies and relocate to make it harder for the 2nd guy(that 2nd guy that always gets u cuz he knows where u are after a frag with unsilenced) to hear and locate you. Really the only thing the terrorist have to prevent the silenced m4, is vent and ingame communication. However, everyone knows this is lacking in most mediocre/average teams(and sometimes pros even make wrong calls, becuz the enemy relocated quickly after a noiseless kill). Therefore, in the long run silenced m4 can out preform the unsilenced m4 because its better for the defensive style of play counter-terrorist usually use.
But it still doesnt prove which is better. As for different situations id say GENERALLY aggressive ct play should use unsilenced, opposite for defensive.
Terrorist who receive m4s should only use silencer after the bomb is planted or if they are alone in a clutch (:o deep breathe) jus wrote all that rly fast... :)
the m4 unsilenced has easier recoil and possibly some minor changes in damage.
in this thread i've only seen one response that really touches on the biggest difference between the unsilenced and silenced m4. the SILENCE!
the biggest advantage to the silenced colt is that if you take a shot at someone and miss, they might not have any idea where you are. if they're busy shooting or engaged in any kind of firefight at the time they might not even realized you shot at them at all.
what you have to ask yourself is this. If i have the colt silenced, will it buy me ANY TIME WHATSOEVER when the t's try to fire back. if you're playing close catwalk with a silenced colt, its probably unnecessary, because they'd have to be retarded to not see you a foot away. on the other hand, if you see a terrorist creeping outside on nuke, and you take a quick potshot at him, if you're silenced, he may not even realize he got shot at. if you're unsilenced, chances are he's gonna figure it out pretty quickly.
just assess the situations and decide whether or not you'd benefit from the added time it takes for the t's to figure out where you are and return fire.
does it seem like the rate of fire is a bit faster with the unsilenced colt? or is it just me lol
anyway.. i prefer the silenced colt if i'm playing a spot where i can maneuver around for kills.. if not.. then unsilenced is the way to go.. less recoil.. pewpew into a crowd of Ts and do a considerably amount of damage without having to worry too much about controlling the spray
put it this way.. a lot of frag movies show the players using an unsilenced colt (from what i remember, correct me if i'm wrong).. it's better in stopping a rush i think
i also like to use unsilenced colts as a T and ak as a CT.. confusing your opponent is the way to victory :)
I think it depends on you're playing style and what map you're playing....
de_dust2 - Unsilenced is appropriate, since the map is rather open and is long range.
de_nuke - Silenced would propbably be your best bet, The combat will mostly take place in the inside where everything is pretty close together.
de_train - Silencer again, There's so many places for the terrorists to check when rushing, They'll be confused when they're taking damage but not seeing or hearing the attacker.
de_tuscan/de_cpl_mill - I would go silencer on this map too personally, It is pretty close combat as well, again... depending on your position..
These are just my opinion, You can play however you'd like, everyone has their own ideas on how the game should be played.
do most pros use silenced m4
zonic doesnt silence his colt like half the time i dont know what reason he has for doing this could be monitors

unsilenced m4 = more damage long range by like 1~4
anyway i always thought aside from the silencing the unsilenced m4 was better in all ways.
