As it always was? Fckin' shame tbh, 90% of players play css and cod4, it's embarrassing. I don't think many uk players have realized cgs died a long time ago and they want to become their childhood heroes from col and other teams, I WANNA BE PRO LIKE THEMZ. Don't tell them that they went back to 1.6 or you'll get permabanned from enemy down in like a millisecond dawg.

does no one understand that every year, summer = 'cs is dead' for the uk. Happened every year now its shocking how each time round dumb people think it's dead.
If it's such a problem, realise there is a world that exists outside of the pre evolutionary uk CS scene. Play in europe. Everyones foreign on the internet.
I think UK cs peaked at around the 4K inifinity-esports era. Then when they took in xenon it all went downhill :/ The organisation got a taste for euro blood

Now think, we have no actual pro teams, the-esl is full of bad germans, theSGL is practically dead whatever you may think, and EnemyDown, well it's always been terrible. We have nothing as good as esea which is funny, the americans destroyed CS, and now they're taking it back, us brits are just far far behind and are still thinking CGS is the next big thing.
Another point to make is that we have virtually NO lans for cs 1.6, there's like one, and it's sad to think that I know some of the players that are going there from mixes I've played against them, and that's sad to think as they're aren't the dogs bollocks either.

look, do you realise how small the uk is? it's like saying 'cs is dead in tenerife'. If you consider yourself as part of 'europe' then cs is the most 'alive' in your part of the world.
Why are you bound by countries on the internet, think you're from europe, not the UK..
We have the largest league in the world (ESL), so stop complaining :\, just because it isn't uk specific, it's still within 30ping.
There's ESEA in europe I'd happily subscribe if there was actually a FEW pugs going on during the day here. I wish they put some more effort in marketing ESEA in europe it would really be an improvement

Some of the problem is a lot of the UK have the mentality of "if they aren't from UK, they're cheating/dodgy/etc" - But they also apply that to those from the UK too. Then when those in the UK play in the ESL and it is played on a Dutch, German or some other Euro countries server, they complain of the 13-23 ping "foreigners" compared to their "MASSIVE" 30/40 pings (a generalisation there, I get 25 ping on German servers woo) - and claim lag, interp, etc etc and just don't play in the "foreign" leagues.
The ego-driven players of the UK scene can't take that there are so many more, much better Euro players out there, able to beat them no matter what server its on and just give up claiming some pathetic excuses.
Thats just the sh*t players. The "good" players are often worse. Woe-betide you if you get a headshot on someone who is in a "top SGL i" team. Even when using AC.
UK Scene isn't dead. We are actually having one of the best summers in a while. But it is definately reclining. Unfortunately.
Only the current crop of CS 1.6 players can bring it back - which, is a horrible thought.
Actually the 1.6 scene in the UK has been picking up recently, theres been alot of SGL Summer cups with alot of activity and FireCore have hosted some online cups, there seem to be alot more teams forming which is a good sign. Also the FireCore LAN is coming up in august, things aren't looking too bad.

i ping over 110 to Cali... i ping 110+ TO OTHER PLACES IN MY OWN COUNTRY. So stop complaining, and pug with germans or something, because honestly, you have nothing to complain about dude.
I'm from Egypt and i have 55 ping on German servers and 70-90 ping on all the other European countries. Basically i can scrim/pub all over the continent with decent ping even though my OWN country is not even EUROPEAN :) So Europeans definitely have an advantage of ping.
Does anyone actually know of any decent leagues/ladders for 1.6 UK teams? One with more than 10 teams? I've been out of the scene for a year or 2. Can't believe the switch to Source actually happened. I remember the good days on ED when you could just post an open challenge for 9pm for example and it'd get snapped up in seconds with a team wanting to play you. I don't have any problem finding PCW's in IRC, but they only satisfy you for so long.
I've signed up to ESL and it's probably the worst website ever to navigate (and I'm a web designer). I think I've found a ladder in there but I can't tell how active the teams are. ED was actually user friendly. Anyway, if there's nothing else, I guess I'm going to be forced to move over to Source. Is it actually any good for matches? With the map changes, all the crap around the map, sound effects etc. I can't see it being any similar at all. Even the smallest change would change the way a whole match is played. Can you just port your strategies from 1.6 over to Source or are they relatively useless, or has Source seen the birth of new strats not possible in 1.6?
