the memory interface is what separates most high end cards from mid range so no it should not perform better.

I have an HD 4890 and it isn't as loud as you might think..........a little noise, but nothing compared to my old computer. Plus it runs everything I throw at it on high.

Hmm thanks a lot guys i think im going for HD 4890, considering the fact that ill switch to a better grahics card after a year n a half when DX 11 n windows gets stabilised . so for now HD 4890 wil be good i gues.

i am sure you are not wanting to buy these for cs only:D... btw awesome lcd... i have the same and it rocks big time.... and my advice to you would be to buy a dx11 card as it will be long lasting...

LOL gtx 260 > 4890? lmao, gtx 260 < 4870

buy the 5770, it's not just better because of dx 11, it's cheaper, more power efficient, quieter, et.

5770 is a mid range card just newer chipset. 4890 is high end in the series. dx 11 is suppose to be backwards compatible with dx 10 cards anyway.

if the 5770 is like the 4770 then surely it would be the better buy without a doubt.

#26 is rite. 5770 is just made of a 40nm chipset so kinda better, but it 128 bit etc, n performance wise 4890 is better i guess . anyways by 2010 december. ill go for a full updrade to ddr3. lets see. rite now i got phenom II 940 /4gb ddr2 ram/1tb hd

oh no, it's 128 bit.. cry.
the GTX 260 is 448 bit, along with the other high Gxxx nvidia cards, yet the 4870 is still better than the 260 even with half the memory interface.

again.. the gtx 295 is 896bit while the 5870 is 256bit, and which card is better? 5870..

also, the performance of the 5770 will be much better once the drivers are fully developed and exit beta stage.

the 295 beat the 5870 in a couple games, but the 5870 is clearly the better card since it's a single GPU, cheaper, DX11, EyeFinity, better power consumption, and is still in beta drivers.

i don't know what your reading elko but the benchmarks i'm looking at are showing any nvida @ or above a 260 is beating the 4890.

and i don't know what you're reading #32, because only SLI'd 285s perform better than ATI's CF 4890
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming..
and those haven't even benched the 5000 series, so ATI clearly blows nvidia out of the water
