I want to demo CS for a large audience on a projector and was wondering if I needed to look for something specific when purchasing one? I'm pretty set on buying this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View..
It does 1080p @60hz. Should I look at anything else?
In thiscase that projector is fine. Maybe you could get a 720p one as counterstrike is not very graphics intense. That way you might save a couple hundred dollars?
Make sure your computer doesn't lag though because it'll be unbearable on the big screen. At school during a presentation, my friend was showing a video on these crappy Pentium II computers and it skipped so many frames (maybe 10 frames?) just because it couldn't process everything and it was overheating. On the big screen however it just looked like 2 frames per second. Horrible Horrible Horrible experience.
#8 - helping with a seminar on objective based tactical training. After the demonstration we'll be breaking down into groups and practicing on LAN. The objective is to develop teamwork and squad based communication skills before field training. The chinese military uses similar training tools to great effect.
I know the American Army has been fabled to used AA...maybe you could use that instead? Or SWAT because there's no actual killing. Just mace and rubber bullets.
We considered using both of those game however they have a much steeper learning curve and we really just want to focus on tactical communication while still having fun. Also there's thousands of demo's we can use for CS, but not very many for AA or Swat.
100 on Lan. That'll be cool...It's not very tatical though for some of the demos. I mean you got spamming, prenading, tower stacks and etc. I doubt you would do that in RL.
i really don't think you'll need 1080p for CS 1.6...even if this is something you guys are going to do regularly you don't need to project the image in full HD resolution
does anyone use and HDMI cable to run their monitor? I'll be using one with this projector and want to make sure it will work properly with CS. I could go VGA but I'm not sure if it supports the same resolutions.
Um. I work for Marshall University and i dont know about your school, but your campus should have a presentation room. In these labs if they do have prjectors, then they should be able to support it. I mean i had a friend that had a crappy wal-mart prjector hooked up to his XBOX 360 and that worked fine. So i dont think CS will be hard to project.
i don't think they will actually be engaging in a comabt scenario, #30, more or less just doing dry runs and working on tactics, teamwork, and what not.
The only thing I'm worried about is the native res of the projector.
What I mean is, I have a 720p projector and when I run my PC to it it has to be 1280x720 or it looks like crap. So, I'm not up on new projectors, maybe they scale better now but you might have to run the projector at 1920x1080 for it to look best - does cs go that high?
Also, since it's 60hz make sure your pc is set to display at 60hz otherwise you'll get no signal.
Why choose a game that is largely determined by aim to try to demonstrate tactics? A game where you can actually discern what effect your strategy had on the outcome of the round instead of randy one deags would make far more sense.

Why are you demoing CS to a large audience in an auditorium?

but if u wanna go with cs that'll be cool too :)
actually when Virtual Rush in PA has 1.6 tourneys they do the same thing so people can spec the matches.
works well

cool story bro.
thx
