Im having some problems getting the glide i want with a revised 3.0 and steelseries S&S. I have tried the thin xtrac skates, which feel good for a few days, and have now moved on to the ms-3 hyperglides.
The ms-3 hyperglides are different from the original ms-1's in that they are much thicker, and must be used as skate replacements(which sucks imo). I tried putting them on top of the existing skates, but the lift was too high and the tracking was unacceptable.
So as replacements, i am still getting a good ammount of unwanted friction, and i dont see any dust/hair/indents that should be causing this.
I started using this stuff on my pad, and would give fairly good glide for 1-2 hours at a time.
I have also just ordered a shipment of the func liquid stuff. Has anyone tried this?
I remember getting such great glide with a steelpad 4d and the original ms-1's on an original ms 3.0. Like you would touch the mouse, and the thing would fly off the pad kind of glide. I'm trying to get back to this feel, but it is proving difficult with the revised hyperglides.
The least ammount of friction really frustrates me. Any glide gurus out there?
Bought them at LG and used them on my mx518. I had the new 518 with the big skates so I just put them over the old skates and it worked fine. They had that solid glide you were talking about, where if you pushed your mouse on the side it would float an extra few inches on its own without stopping. Maybe these could help you? btw, I had a func30.r its plastic and somewhat textured like sandpaper.
I have a deathadder now, and was wondering if hyperglides are better than the defaults... i could use a glide guru too.
I agree with what you're talking about the new ms-3 hyperglides. Actually I made a thread about this. The ms-3's aren't still thick enough to be used as replacement feet.
First I thought I imagined this "good amount of unwanted friction", until I took a look at my month old QcK heavy that had white worn out spots already. I think the bottom edges of the mouse are contacting with the pad and causing the poor glide. The feet should be like 1.0mm thick instead of 0.8, or even thicker.
Personally, I think my old 3.0 (with worn black plastic mouse feet) + hyperglide ms-1's had the best glide ever. The new 3.0 with the teflon feet + hyperglide ms-1/s&s skates felt a bit off and too thick, and the glued edges came out too far, causing a bit of scracth and collected a lot of dust.
The perfect glide can be achieved with new feet that are even thicker than the new ms-3's. In fact I think I'm gonna email http://www.hyperglide.net/ about it and see if they care.
