Me being an old admin, it's safe to say many people did add in their phone numbers, AIM names, MSN Names, XFire names, Home addresses.
We got sold out for the last buck these asshats could squeeze out of CAL. Goodday.
good thing i hacked the gibson... I was a cal admin for a short time back in the day. I liked how they provided you with cheats in a winrar folder w/ a password so you could watch demos to see if anybody was cheating...
Also they had document files of pretty much ever freaking player who signed up for cal. I mean I remember I could just look up info on "so and so" and get name / address / phone number lol... the LUL
Don't think it matters much if their "sold information" knows where people are, it's not like they're about to commit a nation wide homicide of every CS gamer.
can't do to much about junk mail but CAL didn't sell any of their information out to people who use the phone lines to advertise... plus that's illegal now and you can report companies for doing that.
In no way is it 'illegal' when you sign up and agree to their T.O.S you agree that your email and information can be sold. How do you think you get all those telemarketers calling you? You ever sign up for anything and put your number? Well they bought your number from whoever you signed up for
#30, yes. me being an old Game Manager it was useful, most people DID put in their information and it was easy to link acccounts/find banned players rejoining the league.
I'm not saying what they'll do with the information, I'm just saying that little nomad faggot has been in the hole, and sold the database for a chunk of change.
And don't forget, ACS logs were tired to your account, so screenshots/personal information about your computer was also sold. things such as files running, what OS you have, service pack version etc.
It's whatever though, I never filled out anything other than my e-mail and GUID it's just the point that dissatisfies me
#31, that was the volunteer admin's estimates that we all told the community. in reality the UAE bought out CAL with CPL|Tonya uner the belt, saw it would generate little to no profit, and sold it again, to the asshat ex-WSVG owner who is actually much worse than Angel.
Charlie Plitt is also an asshat, however Mr Thunberg(sp?) and Levine are doing the right thing IMO
