Hey I bought mouse skates for my mx518 but i dunno if i put them on wrong or what. are u supposed to replace them with yur current feet on the mouse or put them over? i replaced them with my current feet and when i move my mouse over my pad (qck heavy) it scratches it. what did i do wrong im confused.
they are steelseries glides. i cant find any info on them it just says they are replacement feet on steelseries website. no where in there FAQs say exactly how to apply them. anyway i tried at first to put them over my current skates and it did the same thing, scratched the pad. so i figured that was the wrong way to do it. so i took em off and took off my current mouse feet then put the skates on. didnt help still scratched it. so either way it happens.
#1 u mean take off the skates and use no feet at all!? cuz that wont work well.. lol.. anyways the only way i can prevent the skates from scratches the pad is to put tape on them. but that takes the point away from them reducing friction. cuz the tape seems to increase friction a little and it doesnt feel good at all. without the tape the skates feel fine if u dont include the scratching of the pad and the glide is nice but i dont want the GDAM pad to get scratched. tape just makes it feel bad.
jus take ur current ones off and clean the bottom with some alcohol and a q-tip perhaps to get the glue off, and precisely place the new mouse skates into the slots where the originals were.
#13 thanks a lot that worked. that was my problem. u gotta make sure the skates fit completely inside the spot where the default skates were. since i didnt clean out the sticky gunk from the default skates it made the new ss skates rise higher than they should be allowing the edges of them to scratch the mousepad when i pressed down on the mouse. when they are in the space lined up perfectly the edges of the skates are under blocked by these walls on the bottom on the mouse so only the top of the skates come in contact with the pad resulting in no scratch. thanks and btw that worked well but i still need new skates now rofl cuz when i tried to take these off and try #13s method i bent two of the skates a lil and now its kind of gay. but either way for future reference i know exactly how to do it and wont make that mistake again.
