I dont understand if promod was gonna release all this news with them now having a website, wouldn't you make the announcement and reveal the website when you actually have some kind of progress. I thought we were gonna get the new beta soon.
And I got a shitstorm for saying the project is a joke. I understand they're trying to do something good. But at some point, you move on and work on something that will actually happen.
man, stop complaining. you can complain once the game is released. you don't know if it's bad or not because you've never played it. from the LOOKS you could judge it, but that would make you look like a moron if the game actually ended up good.
so shut up, wait for the game. if it's actually successful, none of you will even be posting on GF. you'll be playing the game all day.
Everyone tried the last public beta they had. Everyone knows how long it has been in development for. I have extensive development experience and I just called it as I see it. I am not saying that if the game is ever finished it will suck. I am just saying what I said years ago - it will never finish on time.
And hey, I was right! Even if it was finished today and amazing it would most likely have nowhere near the user base it could have had. You can't just start a project with a bunch of half motivated people with no skills to speak of. You need a lot of dedication or a lot of skill.
Why do we care if this thing comes out or not? I am 100% content with 1.6 and could care less about ProMod. Let them take all the time they need. The longer they take, the more I can enjoy 1.6 and the more time the CSP developers can take to try and re-create perfection.
When CSP comes out, it will split 1.6 too thin and it will die. This means that CSP better be almost as good as 1.6 (because it will never be better), or else we will kill this perfect game for no good reason.

It's really not a hard project but they don't have the talent needed. Dedicated people without the skill set won't get things done.

It would have been good 3 years ago, but 3-4 years later, they're gonna have to release a new one almost straight away to keep up with the times.
By the time it comes out, it will look good for us 1.6ers, but nasty compared to the rest of the gamers who are used to 1337 p00n4g3 gfx lulz.
EDIT: I'm not slating them like I think what they're doing is good.. but it's a waste of time imo.
