Wireless Lag

So recently I had to move my modem downstairs because my family wanted it hooked up to our new TV. I'm now playing CS on my desktop (rarely) by using a bridged connection to my laptop which is wireless. I'm getting lag spikes that make cs annoying. Any ideas? Would a wireless card fix that problem or is there something I can do in the settings to stop the random spikes?

Thanks.

i'm using an extended ethernet cord and i too get random lag spikes every 5 seconds. there is nothing you could do but use the cord from your modem... since you are on wireless, you COULD try what i have (extended ethernet cord) and maybe you might have better luck.

or download tcp optimizer and optimize connection settings, use 1500 as rts and fragment treshold levels and find a guide from some dsl speed quide site on how to disable NAGLING. i'm currently using motherboard's integrated wlan with no antennas and my neighbours wlan internet and get less than 10 ping with no lag to pub- and matchservers.
