Call of Duty Tournament

TEAM LIST | MAP ROTATION

Although the Counter-Strike tournament’s prize purse of $100,000 is astounding, the $50,000 Call of Duty tournament is equally, if not more impressive for such a new game. The prizes for the tournament will be distributed as follows:

1st - $15,000.00
2nd - $10,500.00
3rd - $7,000.00
4th - $4,500.00
5th - $3,000.00
6th - $2,500.00
7th - $1,500.00
8th - $1,000.00
9th-12th - $750.00
13th-16th - $500.00

This is the first major Call of Duty LAN, and as a result, there is more than just the cash prize at stake for the teams involved. In a community where cheating accusations have run rampant even after the inclusion of PunkBuster, the phrase "do it on LAN" has become a battlecry for skeptical CoD players. The results of the event, whether it's fair or not, will undoubtedly change forever the perceptions the community holds for the competing teams. As the CoD community is relatively inexperienced in LAN play, several questions are raised. Who will thrive in the high-pressure LAN environment? Who will wilt? Who will finally emerge victorious? We should have answers soon.

PainKiller Tournament

PLAYER LIST | MAP ROTATION

The new game on the block, Painkiller, has attracted quite a lot of attention from some ‘old-school’ Quake players, some of which will be attending the CPL Painkiller tournament next week. The game’s multiplayer has often been compared to Quake III and offers high-speed exciting 1 versus 1 match-ups, just like the old days. Being a 1 versus 1 format means smaller prizes, but of course also means the prize doesn’t have to be distributed between teammates. The $25,000 prize total will be distributed between the top 8 placing players, including some famous names such as Fatal1ty, Polosatiy and even Xenon (ex-4Kings CS). The prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st - $7,500.00
2nd - $5,750.00
3rd - $4,250.00
4th - $3,000.00
5th - $2,000.00
6th - $1,250.00
7th - $750.00
8th - $500.00

With such big name players competing at the event, we’ll have to wait and see who will be Heaven’s Hitman.
