Unreal Tournament 2004

TEAM LIST | MAP ROTATION

The last time an Unreal Tournament game was featured at a CPL was over a year and a half ago, at the Winter CPL 2002, which featured a 1 versus 1 deathmatch format. This time round however, the CPL have decided to opt for a 4 versus 4 deathmatch format, played on the UTComp mod, instead of going for one of UT2K4’s popular new team-based multiplayer features.

The prizes for this tournament total $50,000, much like the Halo and Call of Duty competitions. The prizes will be spread between the top eight teams:

1st - $15,000.00
2nd - $11,500.00
3rd - $8,500.00
4th - $6,000.00
5th - $4,000.00
6th - $2,500.00
7th - $1,500.00
8th - $1,000.00

Unreal Tournament hasn’t been much of a mainstream game since Fatal1ty’s win at CPL Winter 2002. Hopefully UT2K4 will revive the game series by providing some extremely intense fast-paced games.

Halo Tournament

TEAM LIST | MAP ROTATION

The only other tournament making a successful return from last winter’s CPL, Halo is equal in size to the Call of Duty tournament in terms of prizes, though differs in distribution as only the top eight teams receive prizes, half of the teams awarded in the Call of Duty tournament, this of course means bigger prizes:

1st - $15,000.00
2nd - $11,500.00
3rd - $8,500.00
4th - $6,000.00
5th - $4,000.00
6th - $2,500.00
7th - $1,500.00
8th - $1,000.00

The tournament format is 5 versus 5 Assault, played on Halo Custom Edition. Similarly to the Counter-Strike tournament, all of the major teams including last winters winner xeno will be attending and competing for part of the $50,000 prize purse. The map rotation for the Halo tournament next week includes Blood Gulch, Sidewinder, Timberland, Danger Canyon and Ice Fields. The final standings of the Halo tournament last winter were as follows:

1st – xeno
2nd – Demise
3rd – Wat?
4th – United 5
5th – TAU
6th – Set it off
7th – JSF
8th - Rival

The Halo scene has been quite quiet since last winters event, and so seedings similar to these previous results wouldn’t surprise.
