The Koreans are at it again with the WEG 2005. Don’t get it confused with the WCG, it’s the World E-sports Games. The timetable for this new league is very soon as matches will start in late January. The concept for the CS end is eight invited teams, current reports have it with four Asian teams and four European/American teams with $95,000 in prizes. The concept for the CS end is eight invited teams, current reports have it with four Asian teams and four European/American teams with $95,000 in prizes. As of now, NoA is the only confirmed team as they released on their website. Other top teams have been rumored to be interested in this CS 1.6 league. One issue for teams accepting is the situation. Unlike normal events, this league will take place over 8 weeks. Most of the current information for the league can only be found in Korean or Chinese but GotFrag will be keeping the International audience up to date. As of now the official media broadcasting will take place on Korean built Streaming Video. Those worried about Korean or Chinese only streaming won’t have to worry as sources confirm to GotFrag that their will be English versions. WC3 will also be a part of the competition with 16 invited players. The next official release is expect in a week. Page:

This is really as close to a "professional" CS league we've seen, and because of that, I'm very interested as to who will be competing and what the format will be.
WORK IT OUT HERE FOLKS
I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.
That WEG 2005 is legit and more pro teams get an invite,
Just like that first e-star that I see tonight.
NoA - Cos they just are, and theyre confirmed.
GamerCo - Not sure whether their confirmed, but apart from NoA, probably the best US team (from what i know), not sure how 3D mite react tho....
Now the 2 US teams are sorted, im guessin the other 2 must be european:
SK.swe - For obvious reasons, theyre ranked number 1, and no matter how much anyone argues, they have proved that they are consistently in at least the top3 in most tourneys.
Begrip.swe/EYE/spiXel/mousesports/The-titans - I think after SK, this is the order i wud put the other teams chances. Begrip is first because they showed at cpl that they are an immense team. I feel they have a btr chance than EYE, simply because EYE's normal team are just not good enough. Unless EYE and spiXel combine again, I think Begrip have a much better chance. After this i would put mousesports, since although they may lack in skill nowadays, they have always been a professional cs team, and this could give them that last spot. Although some may say titans should be above all of them, theyre best player (whimp i think his name is), wont be able to attend cos im guessin he wont be able to ditch school for that long, and the-titans' cpl proved that they aren't at their best without him.
#33 CAL is online why cant GamerCo compete? CALs ping rule is what 100ms? If i can get 150ms from Aust to US servers i am sure Korea to US will be closer to 100 with their interent infrustructure
#35 what the .... ?
The press release practically says nothing and promises a lot. This is not good for press releases, it sounds like a political speech that only promises things!
We will have to just wait and see. I don't have much hopes in a world league but after all i am a pessimist.
why play in an online league (cal) with no money involved in a different timezone when u move to a country for a lan league (weg) with a lot of money involved?
