After many matches the Russian WCG Finals are coming to an end. With only two teams left to play, one will go home knowing they have a spot in singapore to represent their country, while the other will go home empty handed. Virtus.Pro will be taking on a relatively unknown Russian team from St. Peterburg, x4team, who has been building a reputation in the local scene. Virtus.Pro had no problems throughout the tournament as expected, making quick work of the upper bracket to advance to the finals. In only two matches out of their five so far has the team given up more than 6 rounds. On the other side we have x4team who is made up of a couple old m19 guys, original WCG winner for Russia in 2001. They had an early scare being knocked down into the lower brackets after their first match, a 16-8 loss to Begrip.ru. Battling through the lower bracket, x4team came on to beat Begrip.ru later on and eventually advance to the grand finals to play Virtus.Pro. Two matches will be played with x4team required to win both to advance to Singapore and the Grand Finals. The first map being played is de_nuke, and if needed the second map that has been chosen is de_inferno. UPDATE: Despite x4team’s best efforts they we’re unable to force the second match in the finals. They made it close, pushing Virtus.pro into an overtime match on de_nuke. In the end though Virtus.pro came out on top 19-15 sweeping the overtime rounds 4-0 and sealing the deal on a trip to Singapore for WCG 2005. The rosters for both teams are: Virtus.Pro Lex Groove Hooch Snoop F_1Nx4team NooK Griboff Rado 400kg Dant1k
