Seven week long ‘Battle of the Stars’ starting from the opening game on Oct. 22nd.’ Welcoming Ceremony starts on Oct. 20th The Grand Final in China takes place on December 10th and 11th. Worldwide Qualifiers start from September 3rd in LA. September 1st – The ‘e-Sports Major League’, Korea, World e-Sports Games (the WEG) will be participated by professional players from 4 continents around the world - Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Korea. World e-Sports Games Inc. (CEO-Paul Chong, www.theweg.net), who is operating and planning the WEG, announced the official schedule of WEG2005 Season3 from October 22nd to December 11th as follows. WEG2005 Season3 opens its curtain with 72 players (60 players of 12 teams for Counter Strike and 12 players for WarCraft3) who qualified in live LAN qualifiers. The qualifiers will be held in 5 major cities spread out over 4 continents. Season 3 will take place for 7 weeks with the opening ceremony starting on October 20th. WEG2005 Season 3, which officially begins its season with the first games beginning on Oct. 22, will be held in Korea until the Semi-Finals for both games and the grand final will be held in one of the major cities in China on December 10th and 11th. Korean on-line qualifiers are currently taking place and the LAN final qualifier is to be held on Sept. 4th to select the representative for Korea. The LAN qualifier will be held at Amazing Park Lan Center, Seoul, Korea battling for 2 spots for Warcraft 3 and 1 spot for Counter-Strike. The winner Jae-Ho, Jang and runner-up Dong-Moon, Kim from Season 2 in Warcraft 3 have already secured an auto-berth into the WEG Finals. Including these two players, a total of 4 Warcraft 3 players and 1 Counter-Strike team will be representing Korea for Season 3. The Asia-Pacific Qualifiers will be held in Beijing from Sept 9th to 11th under the lead of Beijing Sports Bureau. Players are to compete each other for 3 spots in Warcraft 3 and 2 spot for Counter-Strike. Currently, WEG is expecting Japanese Counter-Strike team to participate in Asia-Pacific Qualifiers since Japan is said to have low interest in e-Sports. American Qualifiers are held in two separate locations, Los Angeles, USA and Toronto, Canada. In LA, the qualifier will be held on September 3rd and players will be fighting to secure the 1 Warcraft and 2 Counter-Strike spots. The Toronto qualifier will be held on September 10th with one Counter-Strike spot. The European Qualifier will be on September 23rd playing for 3 Warcraft and 4 Counter-Strike spots that are up for grabs. The WEG explains the reason why there are variations to the number seeds available for each qualifiers is to be able to comply with the number of e-Sports players and their performance capability level.
