Counter-Strike: ICSU throws in the towel

By: Richard Millington - Published September 07, 2005 at 1:09 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Highly ranked Swedish team I Can See You (ICSU) have today announced that they are folding due to the recent losses of A. "Kixer" Sjölander and Michael "Speedi" Gewargis to the reformed NoA line-up.
Following a lifespan which saw them hit the top two places at Rendezvouz 2004 LAN, Nollelva, Swedish ESWC 2005 qualifiers and win Rendezvouz 2005, ICSU made a significant impact upon the Scandinavian Counter-Strike scene.

ICSU's first real impact upon the gaming scene came on 30th October 2004 when at NollElva LAN they defeated Spixel, EYE and SK.swe all on the same day. Following these impressive victories they continued racking up upsets against many of the region's, and the world's, top teams. Later in November 2004 the team were recruited into the mTw.ati organisation and continued in impressive form finishing 3rd at Optihack. Disagreements within the organisation saw mTw.ati remove their Swedish CS division which reformed in May under the ICSU banner.

The team continued in dominant form reaching the top two of the Swedish ESWC 2005 qualifiers and advancing to the finals in Paris in April. ICSU had a disappointing performance at the ESWC 2005 finals failing to advance past the group stages after tying against the Champions eSports Assocation (CEA) and losing to Team Art.

Since then the team has been relatively quiet until the past few weeks, when the recruitment by the reforming NoA line-up of top ICSU players Kixer and Speedi left many speculating over the team's future. According to draken, the reason for icsu's downfall was simply a “lack of motivation."
