Counter-Strike: Asylum Drop From €15,000 Eurocup Finals

By: Richard Millington - Published September 08, 2005 at 8:21 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Asylum (formerly Incredible TeamAction) have dropped from the Eurocup XI LAN finals due to be held next weekend at the World Trade Centre in Almere, Holland. Asylum have been replaced by Hostile-Records
The announcement comes just two days after the team announced their departure from host organisation Incredible Teamaction. The split, which did not appear to be mutually agreed, has apparently left Asylum without the finances to attend the finals.

Asylum, as ClanIT, have been impressive throughout the tournament defeating the likes of Hostile-Records (16 - 2), alt.attax (16 - 10), x6tense.AMD (16 - 14), aAa (23 - 7) and MouseSports (20 - 10). Their withdrawal will be a disappointment to those looking to see how their new line-up would compete against three top European teams.

Hostile-Records are still a talented and topped group B advancing through to the quarter-final stages of the competition with victories in May over Begrip (27 - 3), Ice-Gaming (16 - 14), Champions (16 - 14) and Wings (21 - 9).

Competing against Hostile-Records in the LAN finals of the tournament are fnatic, MouseSports and Virtus.pro. The games can be expected to be fierce with a prize purse of €15,000 divided to €7000 for 1st place, €4000 for second, €2500 for third and €1500 for fourth.
