The third season of the World eSports Games wraps up today with wNv taking on Project for $50,000 Grand Prize. Team9 came in third after defeating NiP in three maps on the Consolation Finals.
The third edition of the World eSports Games wrapped up today with the final four teams remaining all in action. Two weeks ago, these four played one another in the the Semi Finals. The first match took place between China Team wNvand Norway team9 The Chinese proved that they were just too strong for the Norwegians and managed to easily take the match in two maps. The other game features the Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas of Sweden taking on South Korea Project from Korea. NiP had been playing very strong throughout the tournament not losing a single match. However, they ran into big troubles with Project and fell two maps to one.

A full recap of the Semi Final match ups can be found here

Today, the Grand Finals between wNv and Project took place, as well as the Consolation between NiP and team9. The day started off with the Consolation. The first map was Dust2, and the Ninjas were able to win it quite convincingly by a score of 16-8. The next map on Nuke was not as smooth for the Swedes as they would build a nice 11-4 cushion after the first half, only to see it slip away with team9 winning eleven rounds as well to force overtime. Team9 would use that momentum to edge out the Swedes in overtime with a four to two score and taking the map with an overall score of 19-17. The tiebreaker map was on Inferno, and NiP would start on the defensive side. Once again, strong play gave them the exact same 11-4 lead at the half. Not detered at all, team9 stormed back with an amazing half of their own winning twelve of fourteen rounds to take down the Ninjas 16-13 and take third place at the World eSports Games along with a $7,000 USD prize.

Update: Team wNv has come back after losing on Dust2 to win on Nuke and Inferno and win the third season of the World eSports Games.
