Fifth Place Run Off Match

The runoff match for fifth and six places on de_dust2, was a little less than intense then the tournaments matches other matches. Both teams stayed mostly quite and inanimate during the match.

Begrip played on the offensive side first half and took an early lead after winning the critical pistol round and the subsequent eco rounds. Fourth round came with g3x pushing four of their team up Long A while keeping the last member inside bombsite B. Begrip choose to blitz bombsite B that round and quickly cleared the site. Begrip planted and held the found. Four rounds down, g3x started to get pumped up and played with more intensity. g3x won a momentum changing fifth round on stacks with three players at long a, and two players in b. This set up was their favorite, and they used it to win several more rounds this half. g3x only lost one more round this half due to over aggressiveness. g3x started peeking their spots a bit more, and got picked off because of it. The half ended with g3x.intel up 10-5 on Begrip.

The second half g3x took the offensive side of dust 2, and immediately pushed four members toward bombsite b, very similar to Begrip’s first offensive strategy. g3x slowly walked into the site, cleared it quickly, planted the bomb, and held on to win the round. g3x picked up the next two eco rounds easily, and prepared for the critical fourth round. While Begrips offensive side was mostly slower paced, g3x ran a very fast 3-2 split on bombsite a, sending three players quickly up long a under cover of grenades, and using the remaining two as a quick flank up catwalk. It was then only a matter of time as g3x picked up the remaining three rounds needed to secure their best placing ever in an international event.
