Counter-Strike: Interview with Lunatic Hai

By: Brian Johnson - Published December 18, 2005 at 12:28 AM EST - Writer Archive
After defeating JmC in the lower bracket Finals I took 10 minutes of Lunatic Hai's time and interviewed the team on their reactions to the match and how they feel about the finals tomorrow against SK.swe.

So the first easy question is: What are your reactions to winning the match; before and after?

We didn’t expect to be in the finals; but we can’t believe ourselves that we really made it, it feels really good.

What was the practice regiment like coming in to this was it was there a long series of bootcamps, did you play any tournaments after ESWC to really focus and get in to this?

We gathered up in our café and we tried to practice with the teams that came to WEG Korea; that helped us a lot; but we couldn’t get really for the CPL maps. Today was the first today we played cpl_mill so we couldn’t really prepare a lot.

Spectating that match it looked like your tactics were too much for JmC; What goes in to the tactic development for your team? Is it overhead screenshots, etc? What is your process?

Most of the time we are watching demos of several top teams in Europe; if we find any good tactics we try to improve them and give them a Korean charm.

A twist?

Ya a twist, we try to make it our tactics...we improve them.

How confident are you of your tactics on inferno, the finals match tomorrow? Would you say its one of your better maps?

Inferno is one of our strongest maps and we really want to get revenge against SK because we didn’t know how to play mill; we think this is a good opportunity to play.

In the tournament you’re going to have to beat SK twice, do you think that’s a strong possibility?

Yes

Have you played SK in the BYOC scrims at all?

No, not really

What teams have you been playing over there?

g3x for example, Fnatic

Have you had a lot of scrims on inferno in the BYOC or prior to this event?

Only several scrims in the BYOC; other than that we just overview all of the tactics we make just to make sure we don’t forget them.

Give me a prediction of the matches tomorrow, to win you will need 2 in a row.

I think its not going to be easy, but if we win we think its going to be 16-10, 16-11.

Which side are they more confident on offense or defense?

CT

Is Lunatic Hai generally a defensive team, what do you prefer on all of the maps?

We’re confident on both sides, so it doesn’t really matter.

This is an easy fun one, how do we exactly pronounce your team name?

Loon-uh-tick-hi.

And what does it mean?

It’s like a group of crazy people who play a game and are all crazy about it...like crazy Counter Strikers.

You guys want to thank your sponsors or add anything?

We want to thank our sponsors who make this trip possible for us especially all of our fans and supporters in Korea who help us all..
