Counter-Strike: Bootman's Breakdown: Lunatic-Hai vs. JmC

By: Chris Boutté - Published December 18, 2005 at 2:55 AM EST - Writer Archive
Lunatic-Hai's revolutionary tactics and teamplay was enough to take down Jax Money Crew. Will it be enough to defeat SK?

After Jmc was able to take down NiP in a huge upset, their next challenge was to beat one of the top two Asian teams, Lunatic-Hai. When I watched JmC play against NiP, the team as absolutely amazing. JmC played the match like it was just a normal league match. They were not nervous stepping into a server with all of these big names. After watching JmC run their tactics with ease and letting their aim do the rest (and the fact that zid is without a doubt one of the MVP nominees of this whole event) I thought JmC had the next match in the bag.

Lunatic had other plans though. This is the second to last match breakdown of the tournament, and it's a good one.

Rosters

Lunatic-Hai

Jun-Gon "RishNarchK", Jung
Jeong-Tak "BeBe", Oh
Beum-Ho "Mal", Choi
Young-Mo "enemy", Ahn
Min-Woo "cliper", Choi

JmC

Arthur "Sm0og1er" Nayshlos
Erik "Da Bears" Stromberg
Ian "Royle" Royle
Evan "Evan" Ahlberg
David "Zid" Chin

Excellent breakdown Bootman, good stuff.

lol i didn't notice the sweden flags at first either

Yeah the first round as t-side, god that was an amazing glockshot from mal. They were in mid like you said getting a feel for JMC's setup and it was so tense, and all of a sudden they go, and it was another nearly flawless pistol round. I personally was dissapointed that they lost CT pistol and the CT side in general but they managed to play a very strong t-side and showed the world that Lunatic-hai's got more than just godly aim.

awesome breakdown bootman, but i remember watching a lunatic demo earlier where they used these quick tactics and it absolutely amazed me...i think it might be the Good game demo @ eswc, not exactly sure tho as it was awhile ago when i watched it... i remember thinking wow thats unstoppable as i watched it, also i didn't even watch the lunatic jmc match, but just reading what you wrote, i think it was the exact same stuff...lunatic's nuke is impressive stratwise, but they seem to lack alittle on train T side when i watched them against jmc...
I love her.

What a great breakdown, and what a great team. This is defenetly Lunatic's breakthrough tournament. They've been one of those teams just kind of hovering just under the radar. They beat coL at Acon5, and had a pretty good ESWC performance, and at one point were ranked 10th in the world by Gotfrag, but they still just haven't quite gotten the recognition they deserve. Hopefully they'll be able to tour all around the CPL WS next year, because this is a team you defenetly want to watch out for.

That glock shot was crazy, and the way you break down the match makes it so intense. Gives me cold chills just reading it...

one thing i saw that i had never seen before while watching that match...

in the round where they sent 4 outside and 3 waited in garage... once they went outside and made it known they were out there, their inside guy that was holding middle started spamming thru the rafters and raped the jmc players that rotated up the ladder or thru the rafters to peek outside.

Nice article - and good job to Lunatic! I think they did a wonderful job with their "odd" style of play.
