First Half I have always said that fast paced is the way to go on this map, and that’s exactly what JmC did. They started this match great with these tactics with well placed smokes and flashbangs at the squeaky door, hut, and ramp room. Lunatic played default positions, so they were completely vulnerable to being blind. JmC was actually beating Lunatic 5-0 until Lunatic caught on. Once Lunatic caught onto this tactic, they did not really do anything to counter it. Well, they did counter it, but just not with traditional flashbangs or HE grenades. Lunatic timed exactly where JmC would be and was able to spam them through walls, even though they were blind from flash grenades. When JmC tried to pull this tactic off and opened the door, followed by a flashbang, they were immediately getting spamming through the corner of the doorway. Jmc was basically stuck in a bind, because everything that they had practiced had just been countered by the end of the fifth round. Just because all of these offensive tactics JmC used to beat compLexity worked, doesn't mean that they are infallible. This is the main reason why I emphasize that teams cannot think they are going to get by beating every team, just because it has worked before. Every team needs to have fast, slow, fake, and pick off tactics, at least three or four each. If a team can do this and study their personal playbook, like any other professional team, they would be unstoppable. Once JmC realized their situation, they lost a lot of momentum and energy. They started trying slower tactics...didn't work. Then they tried pick off tactics...didn't work. Finally it looked as though they had just given up and began running their tactics that they had been winning with, and they actually were working again. JmC was getting all of the entry kills that they needed, but then they played exactly how a lot of people expected them to play, coming into this tournament. I am not trying to take away from Lunatic at all, but Jmc's after-entry-coverage was terrible. They have aim, we know that, but when you get shot in the back your aim doesn't matter. After JmC would get the entry kills into the bombsites, they would simply just lose the round, because nobody was covering anybody. There were multiple rounds when somebody from Lunatic would get multiple kills because they're so quick and would catch JmC all covering rafters, or vents, or the outside entrance to upper. JmC really proved in this half that it is the little things that can make you lose a match, although you deserved it. JmC did finish this half with seven rounds. Some people think seven rounds is great for the offensive half of de_nuke, but not when you realize that they should have had at least ten. |
