Counter-Strike: HeatheN's Rundown: 3D vs. fnatic

Heathen takes a look at one of the first truly big-time matches at Winter CPL. Matchups this big, this early in the tournament, can only mean that the CPL hauled in a great field.

Team 3D does not need much of an introduction. They have been around for years, always near the top of competitive play (if not at the top themselves). Now with their stacked roster, 3D was really looking to silence their critics. That’s if they had any left after their amazing performances in New York and WCG.

Fnatic’s most recent showing was at CPL Singapore, where they earned first; though the field was small and not very skilled. Nonetheless, this is a super-team. Some of the names might not be as well known as those on 3D’s roster, but I assure you all of Fnatic’s players have been around the block on the European scene and know this game back and forth. Players like MegatoN and Magix have been playing on the same teams since the versions of CS in which you could still bunny-hop. Their teamwork was sure to be top notch.

Fnatic would definitely use 3D’s current role of the favorite to their advantage. These players have seen enough great players and enough teams to not be rattled. They were probably nervous, but so would any team at a CPL that has such a stacked field.

The awp of dsn is nothing to mess with, as 3D would find out soon enough in the match. However, at the same time, the awps of shaGuar and Ksharp are also top-tier. Both teams are evenly suited for a map like cbble in that they have great awpers along with strong rifle players. This is a great matchup of skill, CS knowledge, and pure execution.
