Counter-Strike: Hyper Speaks

By: David Light - Published January 09, 2006 at 7:50 PM EST - Writer Archive
After nearly a year of relative obscurity, Daniel "Hyper" Kuusisto speaks about his longing to compete once again.
It was back in the Summer of 2004 that Daniel "Hyper" Kuusisto led team EYEBALLERS to a CPL victory, knocking down and then later defeating fellow Swedish powerhouse SK.swe in the finals. EYE didn't have much time to stay on top however, as soon there after Hyper was picked up by SK-Gaming. Unfortunately after a short falling out point within the CS division, the team, along with Hyper, moved into the nostalgia packed NiP organization in hopes of driving themselves back to the top.

With a lackluster team performance though, Hyper recruited his former teammate Christian "vilden" Lidström of EYE to help bring back some of the magic. Since then, Vilden, Fisker, SpawN & ahl all rejoined the Schroet organization, while NiP enrolled fresh, young talent in zet, walle & ins as Hyper went inactive. It wasn't until his most recent interview on FragBite that Daniel talked about his regrets of leaving competition, as well as his longing to rejoin a strong and established team. This comes as little surprise to fans as Hyper's initial reasoning for leaving EYE was that SK could treat him to more tournaments & chances to be number one. One can only infer that he's a competitor.

The following is a short excerpt of the interview, which can be found
here on FragBite.

How come you didn't follow your mates to SK after you had left NiP?

I've been asking myself that very question several times and I haven't come up with any decent answer really, the only thing I know for sure is that I was pretty burnt up and sick of the game. I also wanted the summer off, hang out with my friends and go to the trip I've booked to Cyprus with them.

What do you think about that decision today? Do you still think it was a good decision?

No, I'm not all happy with my decision if I look back at it. It was a wild summer for sure, but I regret that I quit playing CS, I guess I didn't really thought of what to do after the summer.

Occasionally you can see people here on Fragbite wishing you would do a comeback. Let's jump to the most interesting part – will we see a comeback?

Personally I hope to get the chance to play CS proffesionally again, I really long for showing how CS is meant to played, and I have actually started playing some public and against bots. The most important thing in a prospective comeback would be to not make it a mediocre one. It's important to me to know that I could be among the best again, both individually and teamwise.
