The roster will be a bit different than the one of legend. Gone are shaGuar and sunman, and in their place is the former Check Six lineup of Andrew Rector, Aran “i0nz” Curbelo, Derek “Titus” Clark, Kevin “HolyMan” Lawler, Anthony “m4gic” Coriale, Sam “hiCKEEEY” Hickey and Charlie “cbz” Pyo. Their reason for returning to their former name is because they lost their former sponsor and organizer, Check Six.

Laurent Genin-Satoh, CAL Invite Head Admin, informed GotFrag that the leader of the new zEx and old Check Six team requested the name change but no information on why was given.

Still the new zEx players are uncertain about the entire situation. Rector explained that the team and organization have split ways.

“Good luck to M19 with the organization, hopefully they have more luck with them than we did,” said Rector.

Check Six claims not to have anything to do with the Russian M19 team currently signed up for CAL. Rich Howard, manager of Check Six, said that those reporters were “completely false” and wouldn’t comment further.

The new zEx team released a statement to GotFrag hoping to resolve any rumors. In the statement they claim that Check Six “betrayed and lied” to them.

”The reason for the de-tagging is because there has been some rumors flying around the check-six organization. Just for the fact my teammates and I feel that we have been betrayed and lied to our faces I will let the community in on a little secret. There has been a rumor that the x6 organization is going to bring the European team to the United States to compete in the US leagues and tournaments. So it might look like a step forward for the organization, but ha... Good luck to Rich and the nice people I have met, and GOODLUCK for the team that’s coming over.”

Check Six was willing to respond at length stating that no team would be coming over to the US from Europe for the organization.

“(The zEx statement) Completely false, no team is coming over to America,” said Rich Howard, manager of Check Six.

When Howard was asked for a reason why the new zEx lineup was released and if it had anything to do with performance at CPL or other LAN events, he stated that it wasn’t just one reason for the release.

“Was due to a number of factors but not just one and was a decision made by management,” said Howard.

All the strong words aside, Howard wished his former players the best of luck.

“We felt some changes were needed to be made for 2006 as everyone has done to properly compete in the upcoming World Tour,” said Howard, “I have no hard feelings for the guys and wish them the best of luck in the new team they will be joining which is already in the works and best of luck to them in 06.”

The new zEx team is currently expected to play in the upcoming season of CAL Invite. Currently the team is in the Omega division and will face Underestimated, DeadZone and Mug N Mouse inside their own division.

As for the Check Six organization, it currently runs Painkiller/Quake 4, Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat and Call of Duty 2 teams. A new Counter-Strike 1.6 team could be in the future and GotFrag will keep you posted on any changes for either of these two organizations, zEx and Check Six along with any news on the Russian M19 news as soon as it becomes official.
