Once again this GotFrag Staff member is on the road going to another Latin American event. This trip is certain to hold blood, sweat, tears and RAIN...lots of RAIN! ![]() The adventure: After a nice (please note that nice includes LOTS OF RAIN) trip of two days, I arrived in La Paz, Bolivia examining the tournament venue, Kernel Lan Games LanCenter. The venue is not the Hyatt or Gaylord Texan, but in Latin America but we have our own style. Teams from neighboring countries including, Peru, Chile, Argentina and more are in attendance, so imagine this mix of cultures, smells and hungry people. Just imagine. On my trip over I came with my CPU over my legs while I was seated. For two days of bus trips I had to hold my computer in my lap. Reason? I didn’t have time to pack it and my bus from Lima almost left me. So…… it was my baby. When I arrived I quickly assembled my computer and was ready to work; YAY! More content for GotFrag! I was typing very happily and suddenly the internet connection went down. Well… these sort of errors happen. Again: typing.. writing.. now the electricity fails. Ok.. just stay calm. Typing .. typing… Internet is Down again ! Enough… I need to go out . Unfortunately, the organizers just announced that the groups were beginning to be assembled. Now they are ready ! The melee is ready ! Go go go plug in your hardware! Wait.. drivers? Geez.. who needs them? Well, the gamers need them so the organizers start the downloads. However more problems occurred and the organizers decided to get everything perfect before beginning play. The matches are delayed until tomorrow morning, and the servers will be up and working.. let’s hope so. With all these hold ups on my mind I went out to cool off and organize my thoughts. Heaven listened to me and sent lots of rain; cold water on my head. With the constant influx of rain during my trip and at the tournament I decided it would be a good idea to buy some sort of rain repellent – darn out of umbrellas. Instead, I bought some kind of plastic jacket that made me feel like a new generation Teletubbie. I ended the night purshacing a hamburger (just $0.40 cents USD can u believe it !!) and returning to the LanCenter. I wrote this blog trying to evade the electricity and internet failures and now I am leaving to the hotel. Let’s sleep and pray for tomorrow. Good night. |
