By: Jae Kim - Published May 27, 2006 at 2:09 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Lunatic-Hai managed to get revenge for their CPL Qualifier loss to rivals Hacker Project, by defeating the third place WEG Masters team in the Korean ESWC Qualifier.
May 26, 2006 9AM EST Seoul, South Korea- The battle for ESWC was fought among four teams. As you know, there are only four teams fighting for the ESWC spot to represent South Korea - the top teams from the CPL Korea Qualifiers. The four teams are: Lunatic-Hai, Hacker.pk, FvW, and last but not least, Fuy.

South Korea Fuy's line up:

South Korea fuy`grave

South Korea FvW's line up:

South Korea FvW|HarpooN
South Korea FvW|musa
South Korea FvW|lastqtr
South Korea FvW|wow

These two teams went at it on Dust2 where FvW defeated Fuy 16-7. FvW|tr destroyed Fuy with his amazing AWP skills on offense, ending with 18 frags. FvW started on offense and finished the half 13-2. This put pressure on Fuy, but they were able to win pistol round to start off the second half. Every gun round was close for both teams and many came down to a 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 situation. However, FvW was able to pull this one off to advance to the finals.

South Korea Lunatic-Hai vs. South Korea Hacker.pk

South Korea Lunatic-Hai's line up:

South Korea Lunatic-Hai enemy
South Korea Lunatic-Hai mal
South Korea Lunatic-Hai cliper
South Korea Lunatic-Hai bebe
South Korea Lunatic-Hai loki

South Korea Hacker.pk's line up:

South Korea Hacker.pk solo
South Korea Hacker.pk termi
South Korea Hacker.pk hee
South Korea Hacker.pk ryu
South Korea Hacker.pk bail

This game was definitely intense. In one of their previous matches, Lunatic-Hai lost to Hacker.pk in the finals of the CPL Korea Qualifiers in a best out of three, losing 16-3 on Nuke and 16-12 Dust2. During ESWC Lunatic-Hai had the misfortune of facing off against Hacker.pk on Nuke once again, where they were destroyed. But that wasn't the story this time. After Hacker.pk ryu's interview during CPL Korea Qualifiers, Lunatic-Hai were furious at some of his statements, such as his claim that "FvW is probably better then Lunatic-Hai."

Hacker.pk started CT side first where they lost 6-9 to Lunatic-Hai. Sorry fellas, but the star player for Nuke was not Hacker.pk solo. Hacker.pk termi came up huge during the match and he clutched the first gun round as well as winning a few 1 versus 3 situations. On the other hand, team captain Hacker.pk ryu finished with the highest frag total for his team, which was12. As for Lunatic-Hai, the former member of project_kr, Lunatic-hai loki, and the CPL star notable for his ace versus SK, Lunatic-hai cliper, both destroyed Hacker.pk with each posting an FPR of at least 1.000 during this match.

Hacker.pk knew they were in trouble at the start of the second half, but they were able to win pistol round and the first gun round. Later on, the game turned out to be a 15-9 in favor of Lunatic-Hai. Hacker.pk was able to reach the 14-round mark, and in the last round it came down to a 5 on 3 in favor of Hacker.pk. However, Lunatic-Hai cliper and Lunatic-Hai loki planned out a great strategy which involved a major flank on the CPL Qualifiers winners. Their ploy worked, and Lunatic-Hai cliper and Lunatic-Hai loki closed the game against Hacker.pk, with the final score being 16-14.

That leaves South Korea Lunatic-Hai vs. South Korea FvW for ESWC Korea Qualifiers finals on June 2nd 5:00am EST
