Alongside the Quake 4 qualifier is the Australian ESWC Counter-Strike qualifier this weekend. Twenty four teams entered in hopes of grabbing that top spot, as only one team will move on to the Grand Final from Australia, to play against 46 other teams in Paris for the top prize.

The event began with group play format, each group consisting of six teams. The top two teams from each group will then move on to a single-elimination bracket with best of three maps being played. The victor will then be awared the Australian spot in the ESWC 2006 championships.

hope fzero does well at ESWC. They seem to constantly beat (eventually) the other aussies teams for years now. Plus it probably difficult to get to france and stuff for them so it would be a shame if they lost like first stage of ESWC.

well this time they were pushed harder than ever. every year the competition heats up for fzo.

there are a lot of teams good enough to beat them, but through experience they allways seem to win the pressure games that count.

i just hope the australian teams dont get slaped the way spawn flaped firat

obviously not much better, since they just lost 2 maps to 1.

fzer0 came through when it came down to the pressure, but if encore stay together and continue with their practise they could definately take the throne off of f0, lets hope they dont just disband like a lot of other QLD teams do when they get so close to being the best.

Luck of the draw, they were given an easy path to the semi-finals by playing famerz. The other matches were pretty close. EYA has beaten fzero and encore before and completely sacked famerz in the group stages but unfortunately played against sniper division in the 1st round who are just as good. But anyway, seems like fzer0 win it when it counts.

f0 wasn't serious in the first qual, they didn't expect competition, saying EYA could beat them again is bullshat, specially with their current lineup... encore are sharper than fzer0, however they havn't been together long enough to get good enough communication etc compared to f0's standar.. WCG should be very interesting looking forward to seeing f0 vs encore final :)
