14. Team9 over 3D – (16-13) - CPL Summer 2003 – August 1st – 4th, 2003 - Dust2"Denying the rematch everyone wanted" HLTV Demo (de_dust2) Team9 Roster vesslan XeqtR Lucchese quick Luciano3D Roster moto Rambo Ksharp Steel BullseyeEveryone thought the perfect match was on its way, 3D vs SK.swe. Many hoped it'd be the rematch of X3 vs NiP. 3D had just come off the CPL Winter victory and SK.swe was rebuilt with an amazing lineup. SK.swe defeated 3D in the winner's bracket and a lower bracket final against Team9 seemed like just a formality. Team9 had other ideas though. After 3D jumped to an 8-4 lead winning the first half on the offensive side of Dust2 (easier side), they then won the first two rounds of the second half, and it appeared to be over. 3D only needed three of the final ten rounds to win the match (only max rounds 12 back then). The Swedish team made an improbable comeback rallying to win eight of the last ten rounds and force overtime, even having a chance to win the match on the final round. Even more exciting was the opening round of overtime. 3D overran a Team9 offensive rush of Bomb site B and was left with a two versus one. Miguel “Quick” Bonett, the only remaining member of Team9, was left outside of bomb site B while two 3D members defused inside the bomb site. He ran in and took out both members to win the round and basically clinch the match. 3D never recovered and were swept in overtime 4-0. Really a terrible match by 3D's star player Kyle “Ksharp” Miller who was constantly overrun at bomb site B where Team9 attacked throughout the match. |
