When I first started building this list, this match just stood out as a recent match that had to be on the list. Impact wise it was weaker then some of the other matches but competitively it was amazing. Anytime 3D and SK.swe square off and it takes three overtimes to decide the match, that’s a must for any top matches list. Add to that the controversies of a map change once two overtimes had been reached, and this was a lock.

The match itself was comprised of split pistol rounds, one for 3D and one for SK. 3D took the opening round and ran off 6-0 straight on defense. SK really didn’t use flashes or smokes and looked like it was running into a brick wall. As the half developed they started to attack outside where they ran into Kyle “Ksharp” Miller’s AWP.

Miller ended the half with 15 frags but really his play late may have cost them a chance to win. It wasn’t his fault but a change in team philosophy and the reality of the money situation. After winning six straight, 3D gave up a round to SK before responding.

With a quick win after the SK’s round, 3D put SK in terrible money situation allowing them to string four more rounds together. This is when things changed. SK was able to isolate Miller on the outside and take away his AWP. Once they removed that AWP from the equation it exposed the outside. 3D never got an AWP back into Miller’s hands.

Because of this Miller collapsed into the defensive windows at upper bomb site instead of outside in the warehouse where he had been playing. SK took advantage of this doing a creative boost of Fisker into the catwalk and putting constant pressure outside. 3D wasn’t able to respond giving up four straight rounds to end the half.

Not solving this issue left the door open instead of putting the match away at that point. SK.swe followed 3D’s example grabbing the first five rounds of their defensive half. 3D looked indecisive as they continued to attack the weak point of SK.swe, the ramp room. But they were unable to capitalize continually getting stuck there every round. One good rush finally scored 3D a victory but they were unable to follow up the next round.

Like SK in the first half, 3D was not hurting for money and lost the next four. Still 3D was one round ahead of SK’s offense in the previous half winning their second round in the 11th round instead of SK’s 12th round win. 3D looked like they might pick up the victory but SK started taking risks. They’d leave no one outside one round and then one person in ramp the next. Trying to out guess 3D, they finally caught them off guard picking up the 14th round and forcing the overtime.

Overtime really went back and forth as 3D had a chance in the first overtime to put away SK.swe before they were able to respond with both teams winning their lone rounds in the middle of two wins by the offensive team. The exact opposite took place in the next round as 3D won two rounds on the defensive giving up the middle round to SK. Tying it up again, SK won the pistol round and the last round even though they gave up the middle round yet again.

Final SK woke up once the map was switched to Mill, grabbing the first three rounds on defense and the second round on the offensive in the second half. The controversy of the map change obviously effected 3D who didn’t get the easier side on the coin flip. 3D looked like it was nearly going to win in both overtimes but the map change was according to the rules and previous CPL’s proved that it was necessary to make a change in order to finally get a result. Maybe 3D should blame the next match on our list for that rule.
