NiP not to attend Intel Summer Championships 2006

Stockholm, Sweden, 3rd July 2006 – NiP here confirms all rumors about not attending CPL Summer / Intel Summer Championships 2006 in Dallas this year.

"We have decided not to attend in Dallas this time due to mainly three (3) reasons. Firstly of all we have still not received any money from CPL Winter 2005. We have been in contact with the tournament organizers in this matter at several occasions but nothing has yet been delivered to us. Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened and we see problems with delayed pay outs in the sense that it harms this industry. NiP's ambition is to work against this and we hope that more teams will join forces and that we all finally will receive what we have worked for as well as what has been promised. This should also be an issue of importance to sponsors being part of organizing the tournaments.

Secondly, the last info we received said that the Intel Summer will be played on TFT-monitors. NiP's opinion, as a professional team, is that using TFT-monitors affects the game in a very negative way. We believe that a major tournament should contain the equipment which creates all the possibilities for the best and most competitive games. According to what we have heard the decision in using TFT-monitors stands and we believe this harms the development of the e-sport industry in becoming more professional and spectator friendly.

Third reason we are not going is that we have scheduled plenty of PR-events to promote our partners during the next coming months, something which we will focus on executing", says Peter Hedlund, CEO of NiP AB together with Emil "HeatoN" Christensen, team captain of NiP.
