Counter-Strike: wNv adds European team

By: Luis Mira - Published July 24, 2006 at 5:33 AM EDT - Writer Archive
The Chinese organisation has just announced its expansion to Europe by signing Aftermath.
Aftermath was expected to join H2K Gaming on a permanent basis after the ESWC but a last minute offer from wNv was more than enough to change their plans. The Norwegian team was engaged in talks with the Asian organisation and the move has been just confirmed.

"We will, from now on, promote our big sponsors and partners, get salary and compete on world class tournaments," said Ghopi “executeR” Prabaharan, wNv's player. "This is basically a new step for us, a new development as a player/team, not to mention a better offer than we have ever imagined. All the time we've put to this game finally payed off."

Prabaharan stressed that H2K behaved professionaly during their relationship and that this decision was taken due to a better offer from a bigger organisation.

"[H2K] is really a professional organisation with everything you need. They have never fooled us in any way, but only helped us through our journey."

"An organisation where professionalism and dedication are two big keywords", said Jonas “Luke” Bro, wNv.eu's co-manager and coach.

Jack “Le_Freak” Benard, H2K's manager, revealed that, despite losing a great team, with a lot of potential, he undertands this move as the offer was amazing.

"This was definitely such a good offer almost no other team gets in their whole career, so of course the management from H2k-Gaming is sad that they left us but they were honest from the beginning about everything."

wNv plans on expanding to other games and recruit overseas players in Quake 4 and Warcraft III during the earlier months of 2007. Besides, the Chinese teams will now move to Europe to finish their studies, which will allow frequent bootcamps and a better communication between Asian and European teams.

"wNv will go to Europe to study, we'll enhance communication between wNv and european organisations as we will make bootcamps regularly or periodically. wNv do believe a double-win situation could be expected between Chinese and European e-sports through such these communications," wNv stated.

WNv's European team is composed by:

China Bo “WANGZ” Wang (manager)
Norway Jonas “Luke” Bro (coach)

Norway Ghopi "executeR" Prabaharan
Norway Thomas "r00fz" Sandvik
Norway Martin "OmeN" Moskvil
Norway Øyvind "KunFigur3" Magnestad
Norway Eirik "draziw" Gulbrandsen

Aftermath is a team that deserves it because they actually put in the hardwork to get where they are.

They are not the most skilled players in the world but their team work is amazing.

wNv.no pls

its a norwegian team, not a european.

eh sure they have the skill needed, kunfigure's aim -> real's aim, and roofs, omen, draziw are also top notch aimers.

I think this move was a way for WNV to have better relationships with Euro teams/Leagues. I think there might be some issues with WNV not having any claim in Euro scene and it would be a lot easier for them if they had a team in Europe. Also this gives them a chance for their current prime teams WNV.GM and WNV.CN to have better relationships with the Euros and get more practice in with them because the Chinese scene pretty much sucks @$$
