WANGZ interviews wNv's andy regarding the team's performance at ESWC and more. ![]() Actually we were fully prepared for the event. Our players came under huge pressure to play the competition, and we failed to handle such pressure properly. However it is true that you always can learn something from failures and I am very glad that we have found room for improvement. wNv has been extremely successful at the WEG events, winning two in a row including the recent Masters competition. However, it seems the team has failed to achieve a good result when it comes to attending international events such as ESWC. What do you think wNv needs to do to transfer their success from the WEG events to other events such as ESWC? If you have wisdom to figure out every problem that occurs, if you have nerve to suffer a lot of difficulties, and if you have the right attitude towards this career, I am glad to tell you that you are a champion already. Do you think the tournament structure (upper/lower bracket play as opposed to best of 3) is an aspect that is affecting wNv’s play at ESWC? Does the team have a preference for one over the other? Both WEG and ESWC are world-wide acknowledged eSports pageants. They have been very successful since they were established. There is a lot of suspense, which has attracted a lot of interest from the public, private enterprises and the media. And of course, to undergo some suspense is exactly what a professional eSports organization needs. I like both of them very much! There have been some recent changes in the wNv roster with wNv.gm swapping 2 players with wNv.cn. What is the explanation behind this move? Are the two members still on good terms with the rest of the team? Yes, all players are on good terms with one and another. But to change a line-up, which is happening with every team in the world, is actually not a matter of the players getting along. We want to try some new combinations, and we hope that these new combinations will add something new to the teamwork and tactic-making. How will wNv be working to integrate the two new players into their starting rotation? Will they be playing similar roles as the previous two? All of wNv’s players are well rounded; they can well fit into any position during the game. What they need to do now is to practice their teamwork and try to bring it to a new level as soon as possible. I believe that they are going to bring the world a brand-new image. How has wNv been handling all the attention from the rest of the eSports world now that they have proven they can beat some of the best teams in the world? How do you handle the added pressure when it comes to attending large events? If you want others to pay attention to you, what you must do is to persist in your faith. Wisdom plus nerve equals victory, that is wNv’s faith and this is also our culture. I tell my players while they are shouldering more and more pressure, “more pressure you have, more valuable you have proved to be. You should be very happy at this very moment, because your salary will be rising again.” There seems to be a general consensus that Asian teams are extremely strong on de_dust2, would you agree with this? Why or why not? Yes, I agree with you. Chinese teams are classic representatives of Asia. When we play this map, we think much of T-side while European or American teams focus more on CT-side. In my opinion, this could be a result of our different cultures. But European and American teams’ plays on map of de_train have impressed me a lot, I think it is really worth learning. How is the competition between the two wNv teams, is it friendly competition or intense rivalry? What about the other Chinese teams? Who is wNv.gm’s biggest rival? wNv.gm and wNv.cn are pretty united, you will understand the situation better if you regard them as two bishops in chess. Now wNv.gm has many strong rivals in China as there are a lot of powerful teams here. Having attended several WEG events, wNv got to see the different playing styles of many different teams around the world. Is there any clear difference between the playing styles of North Americans, Europeans and Asians? American teams prefer heroism, they expect someone to be the hero during the game. Compared to it, European teams are more precise and careful. The characters of Asian teams could be described by three words: smart, quick, and flexible. As I said before the matter of culture could be a large part that causes this difference. Will wNv be attending any events outside of Asia in the near future? Of course, we are going to attend WCG China qualification, if we win, we would go to WCG grand finals in Italy. We are also planning to play WSVG and CPL winter. How would an average day in the life of a wNv player be like? What is your practice schedule like? What is it like before a huge event? They practice eight hours a day from Monday to Friday, and have a rest at weekends. When important events approach, they will practice 8-10 hours a day, but they usually will take a 2-day break before the events start. What teams do you look forward to facing again at upcoming events and why? Which team gives you the most trouble and why? Which teams do you have the most fun playing against and why? I hope that we will meet team col, virtus.pro, nip, 3d, fnatic, and sk during our next international event. I know all of them are very hard to defeat, but if a team doesn’t lose confidence in victory and if they have the will to win, then they will always have a chance to win. It was team EG that we have the most fun playing against, personally da_bears is our very good friend. The bomb is planted, you are CT’s and only one player is still alive with 5hp, while the opposing Terrorist team has all 5 players guarding the bomb. Who on the wNv would most likely go Rambo and clutch the round? It depends on which round it is, whether we must choose to go Rambo or not. If this is a match point, there is no point in saving life. No matter who is the last man, he can not clutch the round, because Counter-Strike is team-based game, individual strength can not excel a team’s power.
