The 2006 Games Convention will play host to the LAN playoffs for the NGL one season. The top four ranked teams are in Leipzig, Germany to compete for the $35,000 worth of prizes. The playoffs will span three days beginning on Friday, August 25th and finishing up with the Grand Finals on Sunday, August 27th.

The Ninjas in Pyjamas are the heavy favorites heading into the playoffs as they have been red hot of late and finished the season on top with a record of eight wins and only one loss. Fnatic is another team which could easily take the gold but will have to overcome NiP, a team that has defeated fnatic many times recently. Fnatic will open their playoffs against a tough Spanish team, x6tence, in the opening round.

x6tence, despite coming in at second will be in tough as they have to take on the aforementioned fnatic in the opening round. The Spanish managed to finish a respectable 5-8th at the ESWC 2006 losing out to the eventual champions from Brazil, MiBR. ALTERNATE aTTaX is the odd team out as they have been struggling since the roster shakeup that resulted in the loss of Tim “silver” Hochgrebe, Manuel “TiXo” Makohl and Navid “Kapio” Javadi.

Update: It took two, but NiP has defeated fnatic to win the first NGL one season. With the win, NiP grabs the top prize of $35,000 and fnatic gets $20,000 for their efforts. Congradulations to the Ninjas in Pyjamas.
