Counter-Strike: The Mind of Montaner

By: Stewart Blake - Published September 04, 2006 at 12:05 AM EDT - Writer Archive
To kind of jump back to Team 3D, recently Midway published an article citing anonymous sources that you in fact had some contact with 3D and possibly could have joined them, but your not being able to play for them at WCG was the deciding factor against this. Care to shed any light on this for the community as it stirred things up pretty bad?

Only thing I will say is that I am under contract with coL for a while, so no need for any more articles to stir up the community please Trevor.

The very thought of you leaving compLexity to join Team 3D made some of your fans cringe as well as general community members. The fact you would leave the number one team in the world for the recently "unsuccessful" number five team in the world boggled some minds and even had me thinking twice, any comment on that?

At the end of the day, that article was an article made based on rumors. Come on, we've all been to middle school and high school, we all know the truths about rumors, and how they start, how the stories always get changed, etc...

With WCG on the horizon, possibly another season of WEG, CPL Winter, and some World Series stops, what is in store for compLexity in the coming fall and winter?

Hopefully we could get a nice lead sponsor by then, and we can offer a lot more to the community. Other than those events, the rest of the CS year is somewhat dull, but when something interesting does come up, you can for sure check all the details over at our website.

Did you guys not try to qualify for Kode5 due to the fact that it conflicted with the team's vacation or the fact it simply did not appeal?

It conflicted with the teams vacation, and traveling to California costs money, as well as China. It will cost us about 10-12k for both trips, and with a slim $4,000 allowance, we decided it wasn’t in our best interest to attend.

CPL Winter is building up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year with a lot of world class teams that are going to be in attendance. Is this the event compLexity is looking to take to win in order to cement your level of achievement and add a final bit of respect?

We want to win every event we attend. Hell we practice to do so.. And no, we don't really want to set goals by achievements, we just go out there and play. If you over think the situation too much, it may come back and haunt you.

Finally, if you could play a match against any five celebrities who would they be and why them?

Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Carmen Electra, Jessica Simpson, and Michael Jordan so I can ball him up in CS.

I see where your mind is Danny! Let me just say it has been a great pleasure and I greatly thank you for letting me delve into the mind of fRoD. I will let you finish things off with answering three final questions for and of course the regular shout outs.
What is your favorite video game to play other than the obvious Counter-Strike?

I like playing NBA Live 06 for Xbox 360, FIFA for ps2, and Mario Kart for Gamecube.

If shields were legal, what would be your ultimate strategy on Inferno?

Every round push B and have two shields block the entrance; one blocks the end of halls with a shield, and let me and Corey take care of the people coming up middle.

And to let all the ladies know out there, how do you like your women?

Understanding and smart, with some good looks.

Send it off with your shout outs Danny, and thanks again.

Just want to give a shout out to all my friends and family at home who support me, I really appreciate it all. Also would like to thank my fans for their support. Finally, our sponsors: Steelpad, Icemat, Typefrag and Hi-Def Gaming Servers.
