Bo "WANGZ" Wang gets acquainted with the new wNv Europe team. ![]() Let’s start off by having everyone introduce themselves. wNv|KF3 Øyvind Magnestad, 17, Sarpsborg wNv|executeR Ghopi Prabaharan, 20, Porsgrunn, South part of Norway. wNv|r00fz My name is Thomas Solli Sandvik and I'm 20 years old living in Kristiansund wNv|OmeN Martin Moskvil, 20 years old, living in Horten, Norway. wNv|draziw I'm a 19 years old kiddo who lives in the northern Norway. I go under the name Eirik Gulbrandsen How did you get started playing Counter-Strike? What was your first contact with the game and how did things go from there? wNv|KF3 I was playing cs @ warfie's house every Friday until I got a computer & connection for myself. wNv|r00fz A friend of mine was going crazy about this game and burned it on a cd for me and I joined a random server playing as_oilrig and the rest is history. wNv|OmeN I first came in contact with Counter-Strike playing with one of my friend and his brothers. We played a lot of different games but one day the oldest brother downloaded Beta 1 and we were all hooked. wNv|draziw A friend of my showed me the game and I was hooked. wNv|executeR I was always using computers for stuff like designing etc. All of my friends used to game that time, besides me, so one day I was watching them on LAN, and I saw the fun they had, so I started as well. What is the story behind your nicknames/aliases as you all have some pretty interesting ones? wNv|KF3 Me and warfie(again) were playing a pub and he told me that I had to get a nick since I called myself "Squirrel" and I saw "configuration" or something like that and I just liked "KunFigur3" wNv|OmeN My friend Damien and I watched the old movie "The Omen II: Damien". We just decided those nicks after we watched it. wNv|r00fz I was lanning with a friend and I needed a new nick for a 2on2 CB clan and I just came up with it. wNv|draziw My nick is from a wizard (don't remember which game it was) but I thought the wizard dude was super-cool, then I was like: hey lets see the nick backwards: DINGDING! wNv|executeR my nick? That is still a mystery, for everyone! No it was not XeqtR who influenced me. During your time playing Counter-Strike have you guys held any person in high esteem, such as a role model or someone you have looked up to while becoming quite the idols yourselves? wNv|KF3 Qvait and his big brother The Feared ~ argh were my role models when I started playing wNv|draziw ahh SirRunin has always (and is always going to be) my idol. He was my mentor back in the days. wNv|r00fz I think I'll have to go with element, still going strong today. wNv|executeR Agree with r00fz there, I think elemeNt was my Jedi Knight. wNv|OmeN My idol in the early stages was Matpakkis, Damien's older brother, who taught me the basics of cs. After a while I liked XeqtR and vesslan for their awp skills and how they were leading their teams. When did you guys realize you could pursue Counter-Strike as a career go all-in from there on out? wNv|executeR I was ready to go all-in when I found r00fz, my friend, my fellow mate, my padewan 1 year ago. I guess everything started for me in Aftermath. wNv|draziw Well after I joined Aftermath and we got sponsors deals I was kind of all-in with gaming. But after the wNv offer I was definitely all-in with gaming wNv|OmeN I haven't really had the chance to focus 100% on Counter-Strike until we were picked up by wNv-Gaming. I've always had a job or school next to my gaming, but in wNv-Gaming I have the opportunity to focus 100% on my performance as a gamer. wNv|r00fz Well I've always wanted to be the best with everything I do and I've always played to reach the top. wNv|KF3 Don’t know, funny playing with old clans but since I love to compete I had to leave for these guys. Through your guys time playing Counter-Strike you have been on various teams, how did the wNv.eu team come about? wNv|r00fz Well our lineup has been through quite a few changes since CPL Winter and we've had or losses but if you want to get somewhere either it is in gaming or life you have to never give up. What we've done is to go back home and continue practicing hard and be patient. Our current lineup has been stable for the last six months. And I do believe our lineup has what it takes to establish ourselves as a top team in the world. How did you guys come in contact with the wNv organization and land a partnership with them? wNv|executeR We came in contact with Jungle from wNv.gm at ESWC, although the communication was a bit hard - We kept updating each other about our match results since both of us won the 1st group stage in ESWC. Then when we came home, wNv's manager contacted me and told me about this new project, the groundwork, about creating an European squad, about salary, about promoting - basically everything we've never thought would happen this year, so here we are. What is your main goal during your time in the wNv organization? wNv|OmeN Our goal in wNv.eu is to represent wNv-Gaming the best we can. We have very high ambitions. Establishing our top #1 spot in Norway and a top 5 in Europe are both long term goals for us. In the near future, our goals will be qualifying for the World Cyber Games and reaching a top 2 at the WSVG London event so we get to travel to the WSVG finals. The wNv name has a quite a few big results behind it and one might see joining wNv as the less successful squad as creating a lot of pressure. How does the situation affect you and your team? wNv|r00fz Pressure is something everyone has to get used to, but I don’t think it will affect our performances. The pressure its just one element of the whole package that comes with a big organization. What is the relationship between wNv.gm and wNv.eu like? Do you guys tend to help each other out with specific parts of the game? How does it work? wNv|OmeN I think in the future, wNv.eu and wNv.gm will learn a lot from each other. We have two different styles of playing, and learning the best from both styles will be nothing but good for both teams. We have only had the chance to meet each other once at the ESWC, and we haven't got to know each other too well yet. But as I said I think and hope the future will bring good things for wNv. Being together as a team for quite a bit you guys has had some intense matches under your belt. What was the biggest moment for this team currently? wNv|executeR Beating both SK.swe and MIBR (ESWC title winners) in the early stage of the tournament at WSVG Sweden (Dreamhack), I would assume is our biggest moment, since nobody expected it. But of course beating team Jungelbobo of team9 (xlnz) 3 times in a row at ESWC qualifier opened a lot of opportunities for us, and that was a big moment for us as well. Page:
