Counter-Strike: Seven undergoes major roster changes

By: Luis Mira - Published November 06, 2006 at 5:28 PM EST - Writer Archive
Icelandic team Seven has just announced deep roster changes within the Counter-Strike team.
Seven had announced the removal of Friđrik "entex" Kristjánsson in August due to his distance from the rest of the team, choosing as his replacement the local player, Vignir "WarDrake" Vignisson. This move turned Seven into a more local team, a perfect move for a team that had planned on attending several international competitions in the months ahead. However, financial problems ended up jeopardising these plans, which eventually led to this roster shakeup.

"We came up short with money to attend CPL Winter so we felt like we wouldn't have enough dedication to play on an active basis until our next event, which would be in early 2007," said Andri “andr1g” Gunnarsson, former player of seven.

Therefore, three of seven's players, Andri "andr1g" Gunnarsson, Vignir "WarDrake" Vignisson and Guđmundur Helgi “roMim” Jónsson decided to leave the active lineup. These three players have gone inactive but will remain in the organisation. To fill their shoes, Ólafur N. "Some0ne" Sigurđsson, Jóhann "zombie" Líndal and Gunnar "dyNamo" Ormslev have joined the team. To Gunnarsson, all these three players will have no problems whatsoever replacing the former gamers as they are all very talented and have already proven what they can do.

"zombie, Some0ne and DynaMo come from a total different generation than romiM and me, we were the upcomers when they were at their peak so it is a great honour to have them replacing us. Most of you are probably remember zombie, who is most known in North America for this CPL Winter 2003 appearance and countless CAL-Invite matches with MurK. He is the best individual Iceladic player ever."

When comparing both teams, Birgir “spike” Águstsson, player in seven, stated that the new players have more international experience but the older ones were willing to take more time into detailing their game. However, he looks forward to a great challenge and foresees successful months ahead.

"I have great faith in this team and I honestly believe that we can do the same damage (or even more) that the old squad did at WSVG London."

The team's first international LAN event will be the shgOpen tournament, which will take place in February. After that, the team will organise the schedule for the months ahead.

This being said, seven's team is as follows:

Iceland Birgir “spike” Águstsson
Iceland Brynjar Páll “denos” Jóhannsson
Iceland Ólafur N. "Some0ne" Sigurđsson
Iceland Jóhann "zombie" Líndal
Iceland Gunnar "dyNamo" Ormslev

Glad to see zombie on this team. Lots of good potential. :)

Wow it would be a perfect team if WarDrake would stay instead of denos although denos is a really good player.

Zombie and spike are beasts, spike with his awp and zombie would be playing for a team like nip or fnatic if he was swedish.
