Stuart Brook's WEG2 Predicitions

GamerCo
(2-0-0)

vs.

AbitStrike
(1-1-0)

These two teams face off on the ever popular inferno. Abit showed their strength on this map by taking down mTw no more than two weeks ago. They will need to play with the same execution as they did against mTw. This will be a hard-fought match, as both of these teams are friends. I do not think either of them are really looking forward to playing this match against each other, because starting out this group stage with a loss is not a step in the right direction. GamerCo has yet to play inferno at WEG this season, but I do expect some AWPs in the banana bombsite, as well as good stacks and crossfires in bombsite A from both teams. If either team wants to win, they will need to pick up at least one pistol round. If they lose both pistols in MR12, it is almost a sure loss. Many people see GamerCo as a clear favorite in this match, but do not underestimate AbitStrike's ability to put up enough rounds to win. They have been playing very well in practice, so far. GamerCo > AbitStrike 13-9 on de_inferno

Catch-Gamer
(1-1-0)

vs.

Astralis
(2-0-0)

Astralis has looked very good so far, here at WEG. They came out on top of their group, with wins over Abit on nuke, and mTw on dust2. I have yet to see how good Astralis really is on train, but any team they play will have to watch out for their T-side. They are a very strong T-sided team and should not be underestimated. I think whoever starts out as CT in this match has the best chance to start off the group stage with a win. Catch-Gamer, while losing pretty substantially to GamerCo on nuke, still has looked pretty good so far. Catch has played well in the practices I have seen, and have a very real chance of upsetting Astralis. If they start out as CT and win the first pistol round, they have a good chance of beating Astralis, in what will be a close match. Astralis > Catch-Gamer 13-8 on de_train

4kings
(1-1-0)

vs.

wNv
(1-1-0)

I think this will be the best match tomorrow. Both teams are highly skilled and have proven that they belong in the second group stage. Team wNv broke a lot of fanboys' hearts when they took down NoA on nuke, in a very intense match. They faltered a little when they were playing Begrip, but many of those rounds came down to who was more clutch, and Begrip was just a bit better that day. 4K showed some weaknesses against EG on this very map last Sunday, when they were beaten 13-10. I know they did not show many of the strategies that they would be using later on in the tournament, but losing is losing, regardless of what is used. If 4K wants to win, they will need to come out hard and fast in the beginning of the match, setting the tone and not giving up the lead once they have it. The key for wNv so far this tournament is their pistol rounds. It looks like they live or die by how they play the pistol round, and so far, they have the uncanny ability to predict where their opponent is going. This will be a close, well-fought match between two good teams, but I think 4K will come out just a little ahead. 4Kings > wNv 13-9 on de_inferno

Begrip
(2-0-0)

vs.

Pentagram
(1-1-0)

If any match is ripe for an upset, this could very well be it. Train is Pentagram's best map, and I have seen first-hand how well they can play on it. As always in MR12, if a team can win both pistol rounds, it is almost a sure win. Pentragram has the chance to do it. They move very well together on T-side, coordinating their smokes and flashes very well, picking with an AWP when they really need to, and their CT defense is very solid. If Pentagram can hold Begrip to less than four rounds on T-side, they have a very good chance to win. Begrip has been playing amazingly well at WEG so far, beating two very good teams and winning a very tough first group. The Begrip boys have been practicing more than the other teams, here at WEG, proving that they do not want to be one of the teams with an early flight home. If Begrip plays anything remotely like they have been playing in WEG2 so far, this match could be over with very quickly. Begrip > Pentagram 13-7 on de_train

they should stop fighting for all those rounds. just play two pistols, and if both teams won one of those they should coin-toss for who plays t/ct on the following final pistol round, and whoever wins that one is gonna be crowned the merit vanquisher!

nah, just kidding ^^ n1 preds, gl everybody!

Im pretty confident that astralis keeps winning. I think train is one of their stronger maps and if Nicoustie keeps playing well they can pretty much lock down the bombsites. ast > catch 13-6
