Counter-Strike: Lavega, project_kr qualify for CPL Winter

By: Mark Cheben - Published November 28, 2006 at 12:13 AM EST - Writer Archive
Lavega wins CPL Korea by rolling over project_kr 16-3.
A tie in the second round of the main group stage sealed the deal for both project_kr and lavega to advance to the finals. With Lunatic-Hai not attempting to qualify for the CPL Winter Championships in Dallas Texas, CPL Korea looked to be a one man show with project_kr at center stage. Unfortunately for project, Lavega came to play.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lavega, they were the former number three Korean team and became 4DN's Korean CS team back in March of 2006. With project_kr recruiting both Hee and BaiL from Lavega, they recruited musa from FvW and sukha from Mikk to replace them. A tough loss to series of win in the inconsequential closing round of Group Play, made it appear that the finals would be close. Yet, they were able crush project in the finals.

According to Stuart Brooks, International Business Manager at IEG (the organizing partner of CPL Korea), CPL Korea is berthing two CS teams into the winter event.
