Opening day of the World Series of Video Games Finals definitely kept everyone guessing. The day was filled with many surprising results including a 16-2 destruction of NiP by Hacker Gaming. The Chinese team followed that up with another convincing victory over compLexity, however, this game was tainted by an exploit. Current #1 team in the World, Pentagram, took down former #1, wNv, in round one only to lose to Fnatic in their next match. Team 3D managed to seek revenge of their CEVO Pro loss by defeating Pandemic. SK Gaming who just arrived shortly before the tournament (due to their ESL Intel Friday Night Game) showed some rust and were stunned by an ALTERNATE aTTaX team consisting of three ringers, two of which were former aTTaX members.

Day two looks promising as well opening up with some Lower Bracket matches as Complexity faces wNv Gaming at 10:00am EST. The second match is a huge do-or-die game as the two finalists from the World Cyber Games Finals clash once again, this time with their tournament life on the line. Both NiP and Pentagram were two heavy favourites to win the tournament, but one definitely will not. This game will take place right after the coL vs wNv game. Both Pandemic and SK Gaming have received BYE's in the Lower Bracket matches and will automatically advance to the next round.

Once the Lower Bracket games wrap up, the Upper Bracket will continue with the Semi Final matches on Dust2. Fnatic will open things up against 3D, the team they eliminated at ESWC, at approximately 1:00pm EST. Following that up will be a game between ALTERNATE aTTaX and Hacker Gaming. The winners of these two matches will get the rest of the day off and play each other Monday at 10:00am EST on Nuke.
