CAL Invite and CEVO Semi-Professional competitor Desire 2 Excel has reached a deal with 50 Calibre Gaming, and will represent the organization as its Counter-Strike team.
Local Texas team, Desire 2 Excel, has reached a deal with 50 Calibre Gaming and has become to the organization's new Counter-Strike 1.6 team. After talking with other potential teams from CAL Invite, the 50 Calibre Gaming organization thought Desire 2 Excel was the best fit as their new Counter-Strike team.

By representing 50 Calibre Gaming, Desire 2 Excel will receive financial backing from the organization, something the team has lacked in the past. This newfound support will allow them to attend more events and brings them one step closer to joining the ranks of professional teams. Derek Boorn, a starting player for the Desire 2 Excel team, said joining the 50 Calibre Gaming organization was an easy decision and one he believes to be the right one.

"The direction that eSports is headed, organizations are the way to go." said Boorn. "After talking with them for a bit, we felt it was the right decision and they provided a strong base for us as well as a good reputation."

Though only the name has changed for this team, they will make their debut as the 50 Calibre Gaming Counter-Strike 1.6 team this weekend in Dallas, Texas as they participate in the CPL Winter 2006 Championships. At ISC, the team almost ousted 3D in the single elimination round in a close 16-14 loss.
