Counter-Strike: GoodFella steps down, SK with four

By: Luis Mira - Published December 30, 2006 at 7:12 PM EST - Writer Archive
Jonas “GoodFella” Virtanen has just confirmed to Fragbite.com that he is going to retire, leaving SK Gaming with four players only.
The Swedish player joined SK Gaming in May, after spending almost two years in the UK based team, 4Kings. Following a disappointing perfomance in WEG Masters, SK Gaming was in need of some roster changes in order to improve the team's perfomances. Later on, SK eventually added Jimmy "allen" Allén to fill the shoes of Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed.

Virtanen has now decided to stop playing Counter-Strike not only because he said to have lost his motivation during the latest events but also because he wants to focus on his studies.

After more than half a year on SK, Virtanen accomplished, among others, a 9-16th place in the CPL Winter event, a 5-6th place in the WSVG Finals and a 5-8th place in CPL Nordic. Virtanen didn't hesitate to point out a finger at the player's lack of motivation in order to explain these results.

"There are a whole lot of things that could have been done differently I believe... Firstly we should have played a lot more than we did I think, we could have prepared ourselves for the TFT monitors before TFT events etc. etc. There are a lot of things we could have done but we've had a lot of strong wills in the team and when opinions have differentiated it's caused some problems. Maybe we should have compromised a little more! But who knows... ," Virtanen told Fragbite.

The departure of Virtanen leaves SK Gaming with four players. He confessed not to know who his replacement will be but stressed that since the team's next event won't take place in the near future, the team has plenty of time to prepare its new roster.

This said, SK Gaming's roster is now as follows:

Sweden Jimmy "Allen" Allén
Sweden Christer “fisker” Eriksson
Sweden Christian “vilden” Lidström
Sweden Mattias "Snajdan" Andersen
