Canadian top team Evil Geniuses has just confirmed the removal of Jimmy Lin.
The Canadian player joined the ranks of Evil Geniuses in August 2005, by the time of the inactivity of Scott “quad” Bechdholdt. Many reports had suggested the move of the current 3D star, Griffin “shaGuar” Benger, to EG in order to take Bechdholdt's spot but in the end, both parts didn't come to an agreement and that was when Lin came in.

Shortly after joining EG, Lin helped his team achieve the bronze at the WCG Finals in 2005, whereas in 2006, the Canadian team consider the results achieved "disappointing, to say the least." The team saw the need to make some roster changes after a year that wasn't the most successful. After an internal discussion, EG decided to remove Lin from the team so that it could further in 2007.

"It always sucks to see one of your friends leave, especially after over 2 years of being on the same team and travelling around the world together. But his departure came on really good terms, and I really believe that down the line it's going to be the best move for both sides. I think both our team and jimmy needed a change, and I am pretty happy of what we were able to put together on such short notice," said Pasha "Red Dragon" Lari, player in EG.

According to Lari, Lin plans on playing for a new team in the future, although the specific name of his new squad is still unknown.

Evil Geniuses has already chosen its new fifth player, who will be announced in the near future. The Canadian side has high hopes for its 2007 team as it believes to have "the best EG lineup ever constructed, in terms of skill, chemistry, and most importantly, work ethic."

According to Lari, the new fifth may be American or Canadian, it solely depends on who is the best piece for the team.

Evil Geniuses has already commented on the changes that may come in 2007. The team is ready to take a step toward the "evolution of eSports", namely adapting itself to the changes that will happen in the Counter-Strike scene with the DirecTV Championship Gaming Series and CSPromod.

This said, Evil Geniuses has now the following team:

Canada Pasha "Red Dragon" Lari
Canada Matt "bl00dsh0t" Stevenson
Canada Robert "blackpanther" Tyndale
Canada Ian Royle
