Counter-Strike: Rambo, zet join compLexity

By: Mark Cheben - Published January 12, 2007 at 11:56 PM EST - Writer Archive
Complexity has added Ronald “Rambo” Kim and Marcus "zet" Sundström to their lineup replacing Corey “tr1p” Dodd and Justin “Sunman” Summy.
They come to compLexity to fill the vacancies left when Jason Lake, the owner of compLexity, felt it was necessary to make his 'deck' stronger. When Dodd and Summy were released from coL on January the 5th, Lake said he was looking for the right combination of talent for his team.

“An owner is constantly looking at a "deck of cards," meaning you have to find the best combination of top talent that is available and ready to commit to your organization,” said Lake. “Although I have nothing but great things to say about Corey and Justin, our new five is going to be the best "deck" I could assemble- perhaps the best "deck" ever assembled in U.S. History.”

To do so Lake signed Kim, a founding member of Team 3D. Kim had been 3D's in game leader, and will presumably fill that role in compLexity. He is one of the more accomplished American players with many feathers in his cap including: second at CPL Winter 2001, first at CPL Winter 2002, third at CPL Summer 2003, second at WCG 2003, first at WCG 2004, first at WCG 2005, and second at the WSVG Finals in 2006. Lake explained that recruiting Kim was along time goal of his.

“Rambo is a player (and a person) that every owner in E-Sports history has taken a strong look at,” said Lake. “His reputation for skill, professionalism, and passion has defined E-Sports as we know it today. His acquisition was a long time goal of mine and not a shot at 3D or its fans. Ron is a CS superstar that has defined what the term "CS superstar" means. We are absolutely thrilled to have him join the coL Family and we're all honored by his willingness to help us develop our Evolution.”

Kim, in a statement released by the compLexity organization, feels that this current lineup is one that can win any event they attend.

I just feel like after all these years... I need a change. I believe, with the coL core and with zet and I, we have the capability to win any event we attend. All five players will be fully 100 % dedicated to CS and it will be our first priority. All I've ever wanted to do before I even played games was to win at whatever I did. With this lineup I believe we can achieve that.

Sundström is a surprising pick for compLexity's final member. Sundström is a former member of Ownage, Begrip, SSV Lehnitz, and of course Ninjas in Pyjamas. He led NiP in statistics posting an FPR of 0.819 and +/- of +338 and was an integral part of the team's stellar 2006. This isn't the first time coL has forayed into the realm of foreign players, they used Hallvar “Knoxville” Dehli in some CAL matches when he was bootcamping in the United States. However, Sundström is the first full member to hail from a foreign country. In Sundström Jason Lake found his last 'card.'

“Marcus is an incredible talent who has really dominated much of the strong European talent in 2006,” said Lake. “His work ethic and dedication to his trade are unmatched, and the fact that he comes from such a strong professional organization as NiP is a big plus. Let's face it, if you study Counter-Strike history and want to win at this game, it's smart to have Swedish blood in the mix, and if you want Swedish skills, Zet is the man for the job. Also, Marcus is very fluent in English, probably better than the majority of people that post on our beloved Gotfrag forums (no offense guys).”

This leaves compLexity with the following roster:

United States Matt “Warden” Dickens
United States Danny “fRoD” Montaner
United States Tyler “Storm” Wood
United States Ronald “Rambo” Kim
Sweden Marcus "zet" Sundström

Sundström is the third member of NiP to leave the team this week with Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström and Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed joining SK-Gaming on the 8th.

This leaves NiP with the following roster:

Sweden Emil "HeatoN" Christensen (coach)
Sweden Dennis "walle" Wallenberg
Sweden Oskar "ins" Holm
Sweden Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson (inactive)

Kim's departure leaves 3D at the following lineup:

United States Sal "Volcano" Garozzo
Canada Griffin "shaGuar" Benger
United States Josh "Dominator" Sievers
United States Dave “moto” Geffon
United States Michael "method" So

Ronald “Rambo” Kim's full statement is on the next page.

WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO!?

I believe this will be a VERY interesting deck of cards that I will hopefully see in action for 1.6 as well as the CGS event. This is the first huge move in coL in 2 years, and one of the most important roster changes in history. I am a bit sad that 3D lost a FOUNDING member though, so <3<3 to 3D.

wow, i honestly thought rambo would die before he left 3d, lets face it alongside ksharp and bullseye, that was 3d, the only members from the original x3, now ksharp is the only on left from the olden days, can't blame the man though i think before the move coL has the slight edge over 3d, adding zet to compliment him though, definitely a wise investment for rambo.
