Everyone’s favorite Vikings, and winners of multiple Cyberathlete Professional League Summer and Winter events, have recently revealed that they will be taking a trip to Grapevine, Texas this week to plunder and pillage the likes of GamerCo, United5, MIBR and FNATIC like it was the coast of North Eastern England. That’s right kids, a prime CPL fixture, Shroet Kommando Sweden, has just announced they will be attending North America’s most prestigious LAN tournament to compete for eSports domination.

Earlier this week the CPL's Summer Championships released a final listing of teams confirmed to attend which included SK.Swe. How is this possible you may ask? On June 30th, 2005, the CPL announced they would be amending one of their most strict rules revolving around new registrations after roster locks. Tonya Welch noted on the organization’s forums:: “teams now have the opportunity to have their situation evaluated on a case-by-case basis and if it is determined that their reason for wishing to make a last minute roster addition is 'legitimate' we will do our absolute best to accommodate their need at the event.”

Whereas previously, SK.Sweden would have been denied access to the event, currently, they are being welcomed with open arms. The Scandinavian superstars would now be able to revise their lineup in order to accurately reflect recent changes in the SK roster and successfully enter the tournament. The recently reformed SK.Swe, composed of Michael 'ahl' Korduner, Mattias “snjadan” Andersen, Christer 'fisker' Eriksson, Christian 'vilden' Lidström, and Abdisamad ‘Spawn’ Mohamed, were previously known to the world as Ninja’s In Pyjama’s. Due to the fact the players were still under contract with the NiP organization until June 25th, 2005, a transitional team was created to bide time between deals. The buffer team, known as 1911, was a symbolic representation of the SK association itself; ‘S’ being the 19th letter of the alphabet and ‘K’ registering as the 11th.

As they were still under contract during June’s DreamHack event, July’s CPL will be the team’s first official tournament under their new skin. SK representative, Andreas “bds” Thorstensson, spoke to GotFrag stating that his team is “Trying to prepare as much as we can. Right now we are having a short boot camp at Inferno Online in Stockholm, Sweden. Just to get the basic team play and tactics together.”

He confided that even under such time constraints, the team was happy to attend the American event. He concluding that the “CPL is a great and professional event and we are really looking forward to it. Naturally we have not practiced that much, but we are going to do our best for sure. There are a lot of good teams at both events, so it will be tough.”

Despite being arguably one of the most successful teams in eSports history, Andreas seems to be keeping a keen eye open for the week’s competition. After evaluating the squadron’s strengths and weaknesses heading into the event, he has concluded that they will be “aiming for top 5. If we get top 3 we will be really happy, considering how new the formation is.”

The Norsemen will definitely make an impression upon the event. Whether it comes in the form of an ambush attack or a struggled retreat back to Scandinavia we will just have to wait and see.
