Team 3D who won a free trip to Paris France to compete in the ESWC finals in Paris France, and a sweetheart preliminary seed at the CPL's summer event has made their decision on which event to attend. It looks like Craig "Torbull" Levine will be sipping café au lait on the Champs-Elysee instead of enjoying the splendor that is Grapevine, Texas By: Trevor "midway" Schmidt The announcement was expected by Team 3D who placed 1st at the ESWC qualifier according to their website Team3D.com but lost back to back matches to coL in the championship of the tournament hosted by GGL at Web2Zone in New York, NY. With their finish 3D was given a free trip to the French event taking place inside the World Famous Louvre Museum. 3D in a statement to GotFrag also implied that the large cash prizes possible at ESWC were a major reason for the decision. “CPL is always a great experience and a well run event but we couldn't turn down the chance to compete for a larger prize purse, free trip, and new experience (we've never attended ESWC),” said Craig “Torbull” Levine, 3D’s manager. The decision to choose between the two events came about because of CPL’s scheduling of their event early last year on the same date as ESWC’s traditional date. The two organizations shared heated words in the public presses over the issue with both events not backing down and leaving two events to share one weekend, July 6th-10th. Levine expressed his disappointment with 3D being unable to attend both events and hoped the two organizations will learn from this situation for future events. “Both tournaments will be great events and it's disappointing that they got scheduled at the same time,” said Levine, “Hopefully this will be a lesson for everyone and we can avoid these scheduling conflicts in the future.” |
