By: Stuart Brooks - Published July 03, 2005 at 4:02 AM EDT - Writer Archive
We are down to only 2 teams and 2 players in both WarCraft3 and Counter-Strike. GoStop is looking to take down the heavy favorite Moon, while Catch is going to try to take down Begrip in a Best of 3 format. Come inside to see who is crowned WEG Season 2 champion!
After another intense five weeks of competition, Begrip has emerged the victors of the World eSports Games second season. Coming into the season, Begrip was considered as a team with a very high chance of winning it all, and they did not disappoint. They won the tournament in convincing fashion without losing a single match.

However, in another controversy stirring event, team Catch-Gamer illegally flash banged the ramp room box, thus, once again forfeiting the remaining rounds in the same fashion as EG. As a result, they went down 12-0 in the first half and couldn't come back as they would lose the subsequent pistol round, and therefore, losing the tournament. Unfortunately this is how the WEG tournament ended, with a flash bug.

There were many surprises throughout the tournament with the biggest being the shocking upset of last seasons champions, Team NoA, who were ousted in the first stage of group play. To round out the top four, were Four Kings and Abitstrike respectively. Congratulation to Begrip for their victory at the World eSports Games.

Final Standings:
1. Begrip - $50,000
2. Catch-Gamer - $20,000
3. Four Kings - $10,000
4. Abitstrike - $7,000
5-8. Team wNv - $2000
5-8. Pentagram - $2000
5-8. Astralis - $2000
5-8. GamerCo - $2000
9-12. Team EG - $500
9-12. mTw.ATI - $500
9-12. Team NoA - $500

Four Kings2--2
Abitstrike----
Scores: Nuke: 4K > AbitStrike (13-11) Inferno: 4K > AbitStrike (16-13)
Meet Your Makers2--2
Catch Gamer----
Maps: Nuke: Begrip > Catch (13-0) flashbug in 6th round. Inferno: Begrip > Catch (13-7)

Catch flashbugged in the 6th round of the first half when Begrip was already up 5-0. Zevy was the one who threw the flashbug and it really is an easy mistake to make. Catch paid for it dearly as they were never able to recover from that.

JaeHo Jang3--3
Dong Moon "e.STRO GoStop" Kim2--2

Moon started off really hot, taking the first two maps and almost clinching the clean sweep in the finals, but GoStop fought back hard, bring the finals to a fifth and deciding map.

Congratulations to Moon and Begrip for their 1st place finishes and are crowned WEG Season 2 champions!
