Counter-Strike: NiP leaves online tournaments

Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced they will no longer compete in online leagues for the forseable future.

The Swedish team had initially decided not to take part in any online events, but this changed when the squad decided to participate in the last season of the Eurocup.

Just like Emil "HeatoN" Christensen stressed in an interview some days ago, the team needs some time to get things together and currently isn't in the best shape. The team feels that it is pointless to participate in tournaments in such shape and instead prefers to wait and prepare properly.

NiP has now decided to stop playing in online tournaments for the near future. The team was currently competing in two events: the Extreme Masters tournament, where the team was third in its group and was scheduled to play ALTERNATE aTTaX tonight, and the NGL One tournament, where NiP was currently eighth.

The team will now proceed with its intense practice regime but the name of the first LAN event is still to be announced.

and this decision was made two hours before the match with alternate attax should have start? not very professionel

yah its a smart move by heaton, practice practice and practice, and i bet they do very well at their first event due to no 1 will know what they are up against, NiP will be on the downlow and suprise ppl

so weird. they even put up a page about the match on the NiP site with all the rosters e.t.c and then decide to quit at the last minute? attax would have decimated them anyway, they are looking so strong o_o

Apart from not playing vs ALT AttaX today, I think they made a good move.

I think sk did that move a couple years ago.. was it 2003? , someone correct me if am wrong.

I think both sides of this are right. If you remember from the early beginnings of the new NiP with Hyper, SpawN, vilden, fisker, HeatoN, and ahl, they didn't participate in any tournaments for awhile and they didn't do any sort of online practice and they flopped big time. They kept disappointing over and over and it eventually killed the team. I don't want to see them make the same mistake, but it isn't a good idea to play with such a new roster.

This doesn't seem to be a clear cut "right" or "wrong" choice, we'll just have to wait to see what happens. I have faith that NiP will rise to the top again, though.

4 swedes + 1 norwegian always seems to be the fit.

nip + xeqtr, won everything(+sk with dark & xeqtr)
sk + element, won everything
nip+kf3, doubt they will dominate like the two upstairs, but we'll see
